Default Damnit Ran a Stoplight

So I was at work today, my two bosses had to head into Bakersfield because one was finalising his divorce, the other had to pull some permits.

I was in a little city called Arvin where our shop is. So lunch time rolls around and I jump in the work truck and head out.

Well, I pull onto the main road, and I look over my shoulder to change lanes, because of the blind spots on this truck. My boss drives it and hes like..6'4 and 250 and the damned seat cushion is compacted and I'm little so I have to like..almost stand to see my rear view.. and the utility bed doesn't help..

Well traffic in the other lane kept moving up, I was doing about 20 mph and i changed lanes, well, the other lane had 3 18 wheelers in a row, and it was a little hard for me to see the light, so I assumed traffic was still going, so I kept going, accelerated to 30 (the speed limit) ..well.. i couldn't really see to my right before the intersection, and yea, my luck, MY light had turned red, and a car was already going.. luckily they stopped, but I coudln't react fast enough to slam on my breaks..

I saw the cop to my left at the intersection, so I knew I was going to get pulled over, which I did. He gave me some huge *** lecture, after I told him "I know what I did officer, I don't have an excuse for it, I don't know where my mind was"

So he talks all this trash to me, and gives me a ticket. So now theres a chance that I'll be thrown off the companies insurance, and mine is going to freaking skyrocket even higher.

And I've already taken traffic school this year. I'm just hoping they screw up and I can take it and get if cleared off..

That sucks man

Yesterday I was driving next to a cop who ran a red light, I was so tempted to follow her through it, and then have her explain to me and my passenger why she ran the redlight. lol

Dunno, but with the car payment and insurance payment (which is going to go up now.) It'd probably be better if I sold the stang, and bought something thats cheaper.

Over 700 dollars a month, not counting gas.

Because the payment on it is 384 a month, and the insurance is 328 a month.

The insurance company doesn't care that its a v6, its still a mustang and thats all they see.

+1 wtf is up with that???

you need to change insurance companies if they charge you rates for a v8 on a v6. my insurance co. sees the difference and my GT costs me less than you pay.

[QUOTE=SnTBakosFinest;283382] the insurance is 328 a month.
QUOTE]

That's insane. I drive a Mach and have 2 tickets on my record, 26 and 34 over and I don't pay near that much. Like 210 a month.

You really need to think about what you just said.. The light was Red and the other car was already moving. Then you definately ran a red light, albiet, you did not see the light until it was too late. I've been in the same situation behind trucks and you really have to be more aware of the signals when your behind a vehicle thats blocking your view. When you see an intersection be sure you are far enough behind someone to see the signals. luckily the guy going on his green was aware of you. Thats how accidents happen, and they happen like that every day. You weren't trying to beat a yellow light like some folks do, you were just unaware of the signals changing. You have to be ready for the consequences if you suddenly look up and see a red light. The ticket may not be well received but it was justified.. IMHO..

Rebel: now that I just looked at that light, not even 20 minutes ago, and saw the same situation, 3 18 wheelers lined up on the right side, I notice something, being that close to them you CAN NOT SEE THE SIGNAL.

Its one signal, two lanes, but the signal is further to the right. Its not possible to see it.

I accepted the consequences, I didn't try to BS my way out of it or anything, and I knew what could have potentially happened, but I wasn't trying to just flat our run it. There were 3 18 wheelers, cars turning right with the trucks behind them, so traffic continued moving forward on that side, which made me believe that it was still green. Looking to the left of me, I saw cars waiting for the green light.

When you come up to this intersection you can't see the light, its difficult to see the other peoples lights as well.

Regardless of what happens, I'll pay the ticket, I wasn't complaining like "they didn't have a right to give me a ticket" the way they spoke to me afterward was complete BS though. I stand as my own man, I didn't try to lie or give an excuse, I don't need a lecture from a guy who thinks hes above everyone cause hes got a badge. I knew damn well what could have happened, and I was thankful it didn't, and I'm lucky that the lady was paying attention. She wasn't quite far enough out for me to see..wasn't even passed the width of the truck.

OH and my insurance, its an 02 Mustang, I have to be fully covered because of the financing on it, and I've gotten quotes from other places, and they are more expensive.

I have no doubt that you were in a very difficult situation by having your signal blocked. I've been there many times and got lucky when I finally did see the red light. It's enough to make you wanna kick a truck drivers ***.. LOL. Anyway the cop didn;t see your point of view, and he probably was being an asstard. I'm just saying be more aware of everything that Could happen when your in traffic. A wreck would have been a lot worse, plus it would have been pinned on you for the violation. I think anyone here who has driven for a while will say it sucks to be behind a semi and see what you need to see. Plus truck drivers tend to weave a bit and you have to watch their every move.. Peace bro and sorry bout the ticket..

Ya the ticket sucks, big time.

I think i figured out why my insurance is so damned high. Its because I'm on my own, not on my parents or anything like that.

My buddy who got a ticket for street racing and got a point for it back when he was 18 still only paid like..$200 afterwards, and he had a 01 GT.

Hes 20 now has a 04 or 05 EVO and pays like..104 a month.

Its because hes on his parents insurance.
