Question question: my transmission is 'kicking' when changing from 1st to 2nd!

Hey everyone, I have a 2k with 111k miles. A few days ago I noticed that when the car goes to 2nd gear it 'kicks' or 'jerks'. Dont know exactly how to explain it.

It doesnt hesitate from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd. What could this be?

thanks for the help,

ceez

does it have a shift kit in it? that would give it the firm shift. Or if the trans was tuned to shift harder. Did you just buy the car?

no shift kit, stock automatic transmission. I've had the car since 2002, it's never done this, it's always shifted smoothly. this jerking started 4 days ago.

thanks.

Does it seem liek the tranny is going it, or is the car missfiring?

Check your fluid level.

Question

I checked the fluid levels and it's good. I had a flush and filter change back on march of this year.

How would I know if the tranny is going or the car is missfiring? I am not mechanically savvy.

thanks again guys.

I had a similar problem with a mustang I had a few years ago. I had about 115k miles on it and it started to jerk violently from 1st to 2nd. I took it t to a transmission shop and it turns out something inside the tranny blew up and was flying around in it. I had to replace it
