Default Newbee Questions

Hello Everyone!

I am new to this forum and have a 2007 Mustang GT. I have a few questions about increacing horsepower.

Using a tuner, how much horsepower will I gain? My GT has been estimated at 300hp stock.

Cold air intake? how much horsepower will I gain?

Pulley, pulley's? how much horsepower will I gain?

Exaust? how much horsepower will I gain?

Supercharger? how much horsepower will I gain?

Thanks guys!!!!

Howdy and welcome to the Board. Not to many on here with the 05+ GTs, so I could be completely wrong, but in general,

I wouldn't spend too much on a CAI, little hp gain, so loo to get a inexpensive eBay kit.
I don't do pulley's, just never have.
Exhaust upgrades help the exhaust gases flow better, but most people do it for sound preference.
Superchargers will net you the some of the largest hp gains, and will also cost the most. Add a tuner to that, your probably looking to hit around 360-380 hp.

It really depends on what your wanting to do with your car and how much money your willing to part with in the process. More horse power isn't always the best road to take, i.e. if its a daily driver and your just wanting to make it a little more fun to drive, then there's gears, springs, CAI and exhaust. Just a warning though, modding mustangs is a serious addiction thats hard to overcome, once you start, there will always be something else that you think you need...

A good tune and CAI are a good set of starting mods and you can gain a soild 10-20rwhp from them. However if your going to supercharge your car dont bother with getting a cai or pulleys because you can use those with a blower. Pulleys give a nice small boost of power 5-8rwhp seems about normal.

Exhaust depends on how you go. If you go full out with long tube headers,h or x-pipe and catback 15rwhp with other mods is about right.

The blower this depends on what you get again, if you get something like a vortec or ATI procharger you power will grow and climb as rpms do. a roots style or screw style will give isnt off boost and give good power but generally not as high HP as other kits.

Really you need to read up more on mods and see what you want to do power wise like n/a or add a supercharger. Cause if your going to supercharge it dont even bother with other mods save up and just get the blower first.

honestly I say you just start saving for the hellion turbo kit. Just go straight for the big kahuna. Its like $4995 for the whole kit. It would include everything you need except for the tune. Should make about 430whp maybe 475wtq on like 7psi....It would be faster than if you had a centri blower or even a whipple....

Yeah, I'd just save for a good power adder.Definatly worth it. jeredan2003, do you get a fuel system with the hellion kits?

I'd personally go N/A first before getting a power adder this way you already set your engine up to breathe and exhale better. So if you got cash, cams, stage 1/stage 2 heads, and full exhaust (headers, mid pipe, and mufflers). If you got only some cash, programmer and CAI. Also, keep in mind it's always a good idea to upgrade your suspension as well to handle the added power.

What he should do is really spend about three months researching how other peoples cars have pleased them (or failed to). Seriously.. you don't want to get into modding too heavily before you learn what to expect down the road. While we can give you some info, it's the longer term little stuff that you really want to know.

05+ respond a little differently to certain mods than any previous year.

A cai on your car pretty well requires a tune and you can expect from 10-30rwhp improvement. Don't bother with pulleys. They're just not going to help enough to justify the expense.

All the aftermarket systems that MM&FF tested back to back in a huge series several months back delivered next to zero gains. Mid pipes were worth about 2hp and axle back kits added another 1-2 in the best cases. If you do exhaust you're doing it for sound. I like borla.. they sound nice. Long tube headers do deliver a decent return.. typically 5-12hp but they're very expensive to have installed and require a new mid-pipe.

Blowers can deliver a massive punch increase. I like the Saleen blower kits for the 05+. They're nice, simple to install and deliver good power. A little expensive though at about 6500 bucks. Vortech and paxton both make killer kits. You really need to think about it before you jump into a blower. Do you need that much motor.

I'd work the suspension and brakes first. Power comes last.

We don't mean to seem rude but if you're going to enjoy your car and succeed in building what you want then you need to learn as much as possible. We're encouraging you.

For suspension and brakes... start by figuring out what you expect from the car. Are you gunna race, commute, street racing, corner carving, carrying kids to the park, etc...

Once you've decided what you want from it, then your questions will sorta answer themselves.
