3.73 or 4.10's, whatever your preference is (4.10!)

Thanks for the input, but I'd like to hear from someone with a similar car.

don't stock 05 GT 5 speeds come with 3:55 gears already? In my opinion you'd be wasting your money going from 3:55 gears to 3:73 gears....there won't be much of a change, a little change, but not enough to warrant the cost of parts and install, which is the biggest cost. If you're set on swapping gears go with either 3:90's or 4:10's. Anything less would be not much of a change.

Early on yes, but know I think 3.31:1 is standard now. I'd stick w/ 3.55 or 3.73 since those won't entirely kill first gear and mileage will be better in the city w/ minimal loss on highway. As far as combo goes, remember that 01+ Mustangs all have the same trans so ratios and rpms will be the same. The only thing extra that needs to be considered is the extra weight of the S197.

if it's a manual 05 then it definitely has the 3.55. that wasn't made an option untill 07.

Oh ok, good to know. Yeah, I wouldn't waste your money on going from
3:55's to 3:73's. 3:55's are a good all around gear I think.
