boooo for going in at 6:30 this morning, the boss telling me to go home at 11:30 a.m. when i usually leave at 3. and telling me i am being moved to third shift tonight and will be working from 10p.m.-6:30 a.m.

Ask the Boss if you're going to get a shift bonus. Most companies give $0.25 on the hour for 2nd and 3rd shifts. 1st shift sucks anyway. Too early and too many bosses. 2nd shift is optimal, IMHO.. sleep till noon, go to work at 3PM, get off @ 11:30. 3rd is the roughest shift though. You have to adjust your sleep patterns. Sleeping on the job at 3 AM gets a lot of folks fired where I work. But jobs are getting hard to come by. So if the pay is good, adjust your lifestyle to accomodate.

 

pcola, i'm glad i have a job, but when you go in at 6:30 they tell you you're leaving at 11:30 and to come back at ten for a full shift and all you can do is take a nap for a couple of hours cos you aren't really tired, it sucks.

rebel, i get .35 extra! that's sweet, but i actually liked first shift. all my friends are either on first or go to summer school. plus i just don't want to sleep all day on the weekends.

 

Just another case of "The Man" trying to hold a brother down.

 

Thirds better then second. I hate second shift. We work twelve hour shifts now and I'm a day shifter for ever, 16 years pays off.

 

I work the good 'ol 8:30-5:00 everyday. No weekends, get all holidays plus a birthday holiday and an extra holiday I can take whenever I want.

Daam, banker hours. Must be nice. On any given week I might have to work 7 days and if someone on 1st or 3rd shift has a vac day I have to work 12. I worked form 11 to 11 today. My back hurts and I'm tired as a billy goat with 2 peters. Anyway, overtime pay is an incentive, Plus you gotta like what you do for a living. I get 21 paid vacation days, plus paid holidays, so I can deal with it. everybody's still workin for the weekend I think.

 

Damn man that sucks. I work from 4Am to 3PM Mon thru Thurs. The monring thing works for me cause i'm an early bird and I alos have the chance to work as much OT as i want.

 

Except I'm no banker. haha
