i was driving to arizona from oklahoma yesterday when my mustang started to act up. i was on i-40 when the car started to surge and lose power. rpms would not go above 3500 and the check engine light started to flash. car would not accelorate like it was not getting fuel or something. i pulled over and turned off the car for like 2 min and it started up like nothing had happend. i drove again for about 45 miles and it did it again. in total it did this about 5 times yesterday.

car is a 01 v6 with auto trans. i checked all fluids and they where good. so today i changed the fuel filter and the spark plug wires. the plugs got changed about 3 months ago. been using unled plus. anybody got any ideas. i have to drive the car back to okla on friday. please help

 

If the things you switched didnt work I would guess that the fuel pump is going out. Seems like it is having a hard time pumping out gas. Usually when they go out they work sometimes and other times they will struggle. Is it hard to start?
