he was holding back. IMHO, it looked like an instructor showing him the best way around the track in the pasenger seat? I saw a few good opportunities to blast by some of the other cars. But I don't blame ya for taking it easy, you can't be to sure what the other driver is gonna do. Plus it looked like a fun run and aint no need to wreck if ya aint gonna get paid for it.. Full out racing you coulda had your stang stompin round that track. I mean your car probably would put half the field to shame. Nice ride... :hello2:

It was my first HPDE event with NASA. Rules don't allow passing except on straights and only after a point by. The reason you see a hesitation on passes is because drivers of slower cars were usually late giving the point by so I had to check up and wait for it. I later learned it came sooner if I got right behind them so they had no choice but to see me in their mirror. Coming out set up for the pass meant they had to be checking the side mirror. Some times we had trains gathered up behind slower cars. I chose these two laps to post cause the second lap was one of a few I had a clean shot down the back straight.
It was an awesome experience and one I hope to repeat. The restrictions are there for everybodies safety. It's a learning thing and not a competition. I got over 120 miles of track time over the weekend and missed one session.
