Ok, this is the situation.
You're in room A. This is a sealed room with no windows and 1 office in the corner. The office has no windows and the door shuts automatically after you enter or exit (so you can't see in or out). We'll call the office room B.
Room A has 3 light switches on the wall. Room B has 3 light bulbs on the wall. Each bulb is controlled by exactly 1 of the switches on the wall in Room A.
There is no labelling to tell you which bulb goes to which switch. When you turn on any of the lights you have to walk into room B and allow the door to close before you can see which lights are on.
You have exactly 1 chance to figure out what switch controls which bulb or the whole world will end.
The first person to figure out a solution which DOES NOT violate the spirit of the challenge and which correctly identifies a process that anybody can use to identify the control status of each bulb will get 1 dollar via paypal.
Post your answers here. 1 answer attempt per person please, and of course no getting the answer from someone who knows this question.
BTW... if you already know the answer cuz you've heard this one before, please be cool and let those who don't strain their noggins for a while. 1 winner WILL be paid today.

Flip the first light switch on for a few minutes.
Turn off the first light switch and wait a few minutes.
Flip on the second light switch.
Leave the third light switch alone!
Enter the room.

Ok, How about this. A train loaded with 375 passengers is headed from LA to Louisville and is averaging 73 miles per hour, and leaves at 6am.
At 5:45 the previous morning a train with no passengers only cattle is headed the same way, but traveliing at 61 miles per hour.
The question is, WHO GIVES A ****?
Answer = Not Jack.
