So.. we all like to talk trash about the little 4 banger honda..

But what makes it a ricer?

My view of a ricer is pretty much..

1. Some outrageous drift type wing that the dude doesn't even need
2. A million stickers going down the side of the car of all the bolt ons hes got
3. (And possibly most important) a little exhaust that reminds me of a little wind up car as it goes down the road..

Thats pretty much what I see around my town all day long.. anyone else got stuff to throw in?

 

Well, the ricer is the person, the car is a rice burner.


IMO rice is usually making the car out to be something it isn't..ie
-putting wings on the back of FWD cars
-badge ****** (Type-R badges on civic DX's... )
- a multitude of advert decals of brands that are probably not even on the car
- repeats of decals of different brands that make the same ****.. (like having a kuhmo, yokahoma, and dunlop, good year decals on the car, what does he have, 1 tire for each brand?...)
-Altezzas
-Putting on exterior accessories in an unprofessional manner (3M tape to hold on the body kit, or wing, etc)
- Any car that isn't a Z3 with Z3 side fenders = insta-rice. White wheels usually promote rice, flashy/gay colors, and neon lighting.

List gets longer but I'm tired.

But the ricer, the person, IMO again is someone that..
- thinks their invader II body kit is a performance mod
- thinks spoilers in the back help civics on the track
- bumps to techno in the school parking lot
-Thinks they can drift in a Civic
- Considers F&F as a documentary
- Has F&F on special edition DVD
- think bolt-ons add as much HP as they do in Need For Speed UG1/2/MW
- Puts japanese letters they don't even understand all over the car
- The above, but possibly tatoo it on themselves
- Meets in the Bestbuy/Walmart/Tacobell (insert any fast food or electronic store name here) with similar people and make up kill stories that usually involve a Mustang
- Use the term "sic"
- Rely on their clothing to get laid (haha... )

Anyone who slaps a fart can on a civic or any other 4 banger and drives around at 5,000rpms just to make noise....that's a ricer in my book.

Ha, gettin a little testy are we, doesn't suprise me coming from you, since you're the one with pink or purple or whatever in your hair.
I've seen white mustangs with white wheels, and it just doesn't pull it off as well as black on black does..too much brightness. I've seen Chrome backed Altezzas on pickups like S-10's , they just look goofy as hell..looks like the back of the car has eyes, would be well-complimented with a a mouth painted on the back. Altezzas ruin the look of cars, the stock SN95 tail lights look fine, you can hardly tell the ones you have are altezzas because of the smoked glass and those vertical columns running along the lights, if there is a car that it actually "enhances" the look of, that's.. AREA 51's neon lighting is not a common thing that ricers do, his is atleast something different and useful, ricer neon is when it pulses under the car like a seizure test and having the interior 12" neon sticks from computers bumping to the beat of the techno music

I've yet to see a car that these look good on

Just keep telling yourself..."different."

And the average human uses about 5% of their brain IIRC.

I gotta put up my opinion too though. Coming from the sport compact scene myself with my old car I hung out with people who are all too commonly referred to as ricers. That tag is applied way too often imo.

People should call it what it is.....either a "tuner driver" or a "ricer"


There are major differences in the two. Tuner drivers are the ones with really nice tuner cars and the ricers are the ones for the older dogs here would be the blast from the past term "posers" trying to make their car what its not with kits, badges, labels, and sticker.

Let me put my own project out there. Here are some pictures of my old project and most people who see it instantly call it rice but I built it against that mentality "ESPECIALLY" with the lights. I took that on to make sure ZERO dark spots showed on the car so there was complete coverage. I will compare my project to what I would call rice in the same catergory and let you see the differences in pictures

mine "non rice" cause everything had a purpose. SHOW STUFF

 

None of these cars have a purpose in these mods to these cars. In my opinion they dont even help the ride at all except make it ugly

Import tuner is too much to say so I vote for all rice.

Your lighting would probably have looked more sharp if you woulda stuck with 1 color, mixing them kind of takes attention away from the car and onto the light.

area 51, you my friend had a great idea....it looks great and probably had won alot of awards...but many people usually use the word ricers w/ slow economy cars and the above list i posted earlier..

a tuner to me is doing that same stuff u did to the cavileer (sp?) to a 240sx with a silvia front end conversion.. that would look sick.(yes..i hang w/ a tuner crowd in my school that rants how bad my car is..untill i show them up on the speed...haha)

The first two pictures rebelyell posted are actually cars that "should" be from japan or the asian countries. We call it tacky but their its the whole damn fad

 

I have always maintained that to qualify for rice you must have any 2 of the following.

4" exhaust on < 400whp
Poorly installed, ill fitting and/or unpainted body kits
stickers for parts you don't even have or parts not for your brand of car
any FAKE part (including bass tubes that look like NOS bottles)
any aftermarket wing on the front of a FWD car
any aftermarket wing on the back of a fwd car
14" steel wheels with all season tires in front and 17-26" Z rated in back on a FWD car
Any of the above with waaaaay too much bass causing trunk rattle.
