Well my grill delete kit got here this evening and I figured since it's a piece of cake, I could install it in like 30 minutes, right? WRONG. I thought the only things holding the stock grill in were the 4 plastic bolts on top (why the **** did Ford use PLASTIC bolts anyway?!), but there are also 4 bolts on the bottom that are a bitch to reach. So after about an hour I had the stock grill off and my knuckles are all scratched up, it looks like I got into a fight with a knight in armor (rofl) and I start putting the new pieces on. Everything fits great except the damn bottom piece, mine floats about a 1/2 inch above the bumper. I know many of you have said you had to use double sided foam tape to hold it down, but that won't work here because the thing is just too damn short. The sides of it don't touch either. What should I do?

 

If you want to do it right, remove the passenger side headlight and reach in and fasten it down with spednutz.

I went on a McGuyver tear when I installed mine and made it work with out removing anything, but if I had it to over ... I would have done it right.

 

the studs that fit thru the bumper can be accessed without pulling the headlights. I used some "speed nuts" and put them on backwards. The thing is snug as hell and has a very minimal gap. The thing should fit flawlessly unless your bumper is outta whack. Post a pic of what it looks like and maybe we can see where you went wrong. Is it an oem delete 3 piece?

 

It's the one from MT, and I'll take a pic when I go out to mess with it again, but it's a huge gap, about half an inch.

 

mine was like that i just doubled up on the 2 sided tape and it looks great now..........i also didnt kno everything involved in that install lol but did it yesterday

 

ok bro....do NOT take out the headlight. I know PRECISELY what you are going through bc I went thru the same thig trying for an hour and a half to figure out how to take the screws off. Something I noticed though in the instructions that I digregarded was it sayin to use a 70mm wrench(im [retty sure its 70mm, but if not then something close). It's a tiny lil wrench and it fits perfectly into the area you need(which is so small and can only fit like ur hand at most) and what took me over an hour and i never figured out took me literally 15 minutes once I got ahold of the 70mm wrench. You may be able to remove them another way, but this is by FAR the easiest. You will be done in less than 20 min once you start with the 70mm wrench.

 

mine was exactly the same. double sided tape worked just fine. ive had it on there for like a year now. i wash it like twice a week. no problem with it comeing off at all.

yeah i didnt read all of the intro post so I didnt see what the problem was. but my advice will still help. I still say get the 70mm wrench and the stock screws will be easy to screw in place and hold the piece on. double sided tape comes with it but it's just a helper

 

My kit came with jack, no instructions, no tape, no tools, no nothing. Just the 3 pieces.

But either way, I managed to fix it by taking it off and putting it back on again with a little bit of the foam double sided tape. It looks waaay better now!

 

Mine didn't come with "jack" either. Just like yours... and regardless of what these monkeys are saying.. , I watched a friend install his by removing the headlight and it was simple to reach in and fasten the "speed nuts" to secure the bottom piece. If the tape works for you, then thats cool too. Glad you got it on. Makes the front end look completely different heh?

 

Dont you mean 7mm? 70mm sounds like a big wrench. I have the Ford mach 1 grill delete. It just pops on with no problem.

 

lol, i was gonna say, 70mm????WTF,lol 70mm is HUGE because 35mm is = to 1 5/16 wrench or socket so 70mm would = 2 5/8 that is MASSIVE,lol. i do in fact agree you mean 7mm not 70mm this is why. but this is good info to have because a grille delete is in my near future, so is a mach 1 chin spoiler.



ps to put it in even more perspective 3/4" = 19mm,9/16" =15mm,1/2" = 13mm, 3/8" = 10mm, 5/16 "= 8mm, i assume u get the idea now,lol.

 

I just got mine the other day, it doesn't have any instructions or anything either, just the 3 pieces. Hopefully when I go to install it I can DL some off the web.

 

What is a grill delete? anyone got a picture?

 

It removes the stock honeycomb grill. Its just open space after you isntall the delete
