Default 01 Mustang GT hood.

I have a '00 GT, so I got stuck with the ugly nonfunctional scoop type thing on the hood.

I'm looking to upgrade my hood, and I've always liked the ones on the 01-04 GT's. I know it will fit, but my question is this: I've always thought about/been worried about what would happen when it rains and water gets inside the holes in the scoop of those hoods. Is there something behind it or anything?

Should I have any worries in this case?

On a side not, I found a 01 GT hood for $150 in the same color as my car. How is that for price?

There are a few routes you could go.

You could buy the hood with scoop and risk the paint not matching due to sun bleaching.

You could buy a used hood scoop off of CL for dirt cheap, there are plenty, and have it painted to match.

Or you could buy a new one and have it painted.

IMHO I would surf craigslist and see if you can find one in good condition for like $20-40 and have it painted and professionally installed.

edit: the hood scoop is non functional, the honeycomb is just an insert like the side scoops

The hood on an 01-04 is NOT functional. You can modify it to work I guess...

I had a stock 2000 hood, bought a new scoop from ebay for like 80$. Wish i had either bought the full hood or boughten a scoop that had been pre-fitted. My scoop atm doesnt match the countours of the hood perfectly so it pisses me off. Im gunna end up buying a Q400 hood soon.

Ahh, I didnt realize that the 01-04 GT hood was non-functional...

I think I might get it though to replace my current 00 one. As long as the one the guy has matches in color as far as fading goes.

you could just pull the scoop off yours. You'll have 6 screw holes in it but it's free. Doesn't matter if you get a little water on the motor.

150 seems like a bit pricey but not overly so if the paint is good.
