Talking Finally did it...

And couldn't be happier!! Took several weeks figuring out what kind of a head unit I really wanted/needed in my car. I have no plans (no immediate ones anyway) of doing a system in my car, no subs or anything like that, but I really wanted something up to date that wouldn't be completely obselete in a years time.

Ended up getting the Sony CDX-GT700HD. Was on sale at Crutchfield $40 off and came with the full install kit + free shipping and even a $20 gift card.

I must say that I am extremely impressed with this thing. The speakers sound 100% better and it is absolutely awesome that I can finally use my MP3 player!! It actually controls my Creative Zen through the USB connection! I'll never have to carry CD's in my car ever again. The built-in HD tuner sounds great as well.

Overall I must say that I am completely impressed, this is hands down the best receiver that I've ever had, especially for the money!

Sorry for the crappy pics, cell phone + dark = suck.

Link to the actual player? Hows the HD tuner work with radio honestly? Looks good man, hopefully performs well.

The HD radio definitely has more clarity than standard FM. I've only been able to mess with it for about an hour tonight, installed it after I got home from work. So far I am extremely happy with it though and am seriously considering getting one for the mountaineer in a couple of weeks too.

For the price it looks real good, nice buy man. Does the HD part make it get better reception, or just the reception it gets is clearer? I still am looking for a new one for my car and am curious. Id love some better pics of it if you could please, it seems this one is better than the one i was looking at, and is cheaper as well.

SWEET! bout time you get a HU that does those speakers I installed oh so long ago justice. Not that they were best of the best, but way better than the stock poop.

I will try to get some better pics, but it's exactly what you see in the pics on Crutchfield...

They definitely sound nice, the unfortunate thing is that no components have bass anymore, but they have some earsplitting mids & highs! lol

The only thing keeping me from exchanging my stock double single-din units is the superfluous lights that come with most new head units. That bright blue would kill me.

This HU has dual options, you can use the blue or switch it to green in the menu. The Green is about as dim as the stock receiver. It also has auto dimming that dims the unit when the marker/headlights are turned on.

Most HU's have the option to auto-dim but I found it worthless. I normally drive around with my parking lights/fogs on just because I'm a BAMF anyways. The blue on my Alpine deck was ******* blinding though. Another reason I'm not putting it back in.

Good buy though Evan! Personally I'm not a fan of how the single-DIN units look in the 01'-04's but hey, if you like it...

I'm not a huge fan of it either, but I have other reasons for going with a single din which will be revealed in a week or so....

You will not be disapointed with the Speed of Sound panels. They are awesome. My head unit (Alpine iDA-X100) has blue LED's, and I ordered my switches with blue LED's. It all matches, and looks great at night.

Yeah, I suck at keeping secrets..

Alan @ SOS is the man. He customized the panel for me replaced the SOS logo with the GT. As far as I know, he explained that this was the first one done this way, so at the moment I have 1 of 1 !! That doesn't happen very often in the Mustang world so that's pretty damn cool!

"Eject" will be the line-lock eventually. lol

And yes, they are blue LED switches.

Nothing at the moment. Once this is installed I'm going to start @ 100 and go from there.

Yeah, he custom-made mine as well. They were in the process of designing 99/00 ones so he made one up for me.

And just go right to the 125 shot.

my new car has the cable in the glove compartment that changes my ipod as i listen to the music too. Its so much better than having to go back to the ipod to have to change the songs. I just stick it in the glove compartment and dont even bother taking it out.

God, I'm good.

I just had a feeling it'd come eventually from you WN.

On a side note, I think I'm falling towards the dark side and leaning towards going for spray on my car too.

Rode in a 3v with a 100-shot that he's had for two years now and it rocked my world. Well worth it if done right lol.
