Default What amp should I get?

Not sure what wattage amplifier I should get. You think 1000w would be okay?

I have this setup:

PIONEER 6" x 8" 4-Way 280W SPEAKERS

And a Sony XPlod CDX-GT520 Head Unit which only puts out 52x4... so it doesnt sound so good at high volumes

You're looking at amp ratings all wrong. The only thing to look at for speakers and amps is the RMS ratings. They tell the real story, the MAX or "dynamic" ratings are just hype and salesmanship.

With those speakers, you need an amp that puts out around 50 watts x 2 rms @ 4 ohms. if you're running 2 speakers, or 50 x 4 rms at 4 ohms. if you're running 4 of them.

None of the other numbers matter at all. If you need suggestions on amps, let me know your budget, and I can suggest the best for your money. There's a lot of really crap amps out there on the market, but being in the car audio business for 20 years, I know what's decent and what's crap, but how decent all depends on the money you want to spend.
