Default Stripe fading

I have been thinking about putting stripes on my mustang for a while now. I know there is NO way that a vinyl stripe will shine or reflect like painted stripes will. But I am wondering how bad the stripes will fade, how long it takes, and how it can be prevented (ex. does a normal wax, paint polish, etc. help?).

If your considering the versus between painting and vinyls id say vinyls because they go around 400$ all said and done and painting is around 1200$. Yes wax will help although you need to be very carefull to not burn them off with your polisher.

$400 for vinyls?

more like $40.00

i bought a set from www.rallystripes.com and put them on myself. they ooked great, lasted several years and i took em off just cause i wanted to change things up a bit.

I say go with paint if you dont mind paying 1000+, paint definatly looks better especially after thye have been cleared.

the vinyls look pretty good though, in fact, they look incredible when you look at the price tag.

I have a really good body guy that drag races with me, he's done 100's of cars and has already told me he can do pretty much any stripe package I caould dream of, i have just seen a few with vinyl that looked really flat and ugly... There arent a large number of mustangs in my area that get the proper attention the deserve so i figured i would ask people who have tried them out.

If its a gloss vinal then you can keep it looking nice with polishing and waxing. Just be careful if you want to use a Portal cable or the like polisher on it. You can burn this babies up real fast.

stripes take damage easily though, the MUSTANG side stripes I have had for only 6-8 months are already riddled with damage and are starting to look tacky, I'm about to take them off entirely
