Default Fading third brake light Q

I am about to replace the original for the black LED one on AM, once installed, is there any way to keep the top portion from baking in the sun and fading again. Should I wax it, or wet sand it every so often? Is there a product anyone uses to keep it looking shiny?

u could put black electrical tape on the top lol...

Put vinyl over it.
