Default Hood Paint Bubbling on '05-'07 Mustangs.

I discovered yesterday I share a nasty problem with most likely hundreds of other '05-'07 Mustang owners... that nasty problem is bubbling hood paint.

Right underneath the seam on the underside of the hood near the hood latch, I have 2 corrosion spots that are about the size of quarters and 1 that is the size of my pinky nail.

Here is the link to the TSB on this issue.

Body Panel Corrosion

For 2005, 2006, 2007 Mustangs:

Basic: 3 yr. / 36,000 mi. Drivetrain: 3 yr. / 36,000 mi. Roadside: 3 yr. / 36,000 mi. Rust: 5 yr. / Unlimited mi.

I'm not posting this for advice because I'm taking to the dealership to see what can be done about it. I just wanted to make others aware of the problem and to encourage everyone to check their hoods for this problem.

Finish is 100% not covered under warranty. Good luck with that. Sorry to hear there's yet another shitty paint issue coming out of Ford (look up the 1987 Taurus, it'd develop racing stripes after just a few years)

Even if it was 100% covered, I'm sure they'd still find some shitty reason to not cover me. I'm going to fight like hell to have Ford replace it or at least eat a chunk of the costs.

Thank god mine is an 08. I don't have to worry about the strut mounts breaking, nor the paint bubbling.

Sorry to hear about that though....Hopefully the stealership will help you out a little bit.

You should still check it out just to be safe. And thanks... I hope they help me out, too. I'm going to call around to see what all can be done. Plant City Ford has always been good to me, so we'll see what happens.

You'd think Ford or any automakerwould have learned how to paint cars by now! I had a 92 Taurus that developed a big "racing stripe" up the middle of the hood and the middle of the roof. Looked like it was sandblasted right up the middle of the car. A guy at work has an F350 (newer, but don't know the year) with the WORST orange peel I've ever seen! i never would have accepted that car from the dealer. I would've sai, order me another one....one with a nice paint job! Sorry to hear about your problem.
