Default Shaker 500 subs

alrighty, as you may know, my old '04 gt had two alpine 10" type e's. My new car has the shaker 500. I can't even take the lack of bass coming from it. The thing is, I want to keep it looking stock.

1) Is there a way to upgrade the amps and subs in the doors, say, a package of some sorts?

2)They are 8" subs correct?

3)Would any shallow mount sub fit in there?

4) What impedance are the standard subs in the doors?

5) I've read alot on the shaker 1k swap. Would that be worth it, I see it being very hard... (I care more about the other questions than this last one)

Speakers in the doors should be 6x8" or 5.5" with adapter plate. The stock speakers are usually crap so upgrading will definatly help. I'd suggest a set of 5.5" component speakers with external crossover. I have these in my doors and love them. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ker+KS5.2.html They will fit in the rear deck as well. If you put them in the rear deck use some kind of sound dampener between the speaker and the deck . http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...Kit+10415.html
It helps prevent that rattle and will give you cleaner sounding bass.

Want more bass but still stock look you can add something like this. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...mplified-.html It also comes in a non amplified version if you'd rather get your own amp.

Btw. no I don't work for that company, they just have the best prices I've found anywhere.

I asked about the subs, not the speakers... and I have already looked at sub enclosures/subs, but $500 is way more than I would like to spend. Maybe 150 for good subs, 250 for a couple good amps for the doors (If need be) again, I'm asking about the subs, not the speakers.

Every place says 8 or 6.5. I would love to get a solid answer, and know whether they are upgradeable or not.

This is all I could find about it. I had it confused with the mach systems which didn't have a sub in the door.

"Shaker 500:

Front Door: 6x8" Plate, with 4" mid, and 3/4" dome tweeter (same as MACH), and an 8" Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer in a ported chamber. The Sub is supposed to be 2 ohms, but is apparently closer to 1.6. So, if you wanted to swap it, you'd have to use a 2 ohm capable sub.

Rear Deck: 6x8" twin cone coaxial "

From what I read the stock system sucks and will never compare with aftermarket. Definetly buy new subs. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/viewc..._id=59&f_31=97

and most suggest new amps as well.

i know you want it to look factory but, you just wont get the sound you are looking for by replacing the door subs, so if you can i would just add an aftermarket sub or subs and amp with a nice enclosure to your trunk, but its up to you

Alright... I know the mount depth of the stock pieces is just 3", but I know how to use a sawzall.

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...T+08CVT82.html

Now, since it's a single 2 ohm voice coil, I will be required to rewire the amps.

What about replacement? does anyone know the size of the stock amplifiers in the doors for the shaker 500? No info on this anywhere...
