Help! Billet shifter ****!
So i was adding some stuff to the interior of my car and i started working on the billet shifter **** from AM, and i took my old **** off and was about to take off the wiring for the O/D when i realized i needed to trace the wiring back to the console or cut the wire then sauder it. Im kinda lost as to where the console is and i have NO saudering supplies so any advice as to fix it would be REALLY helpfull. Oh and its auto-trans

Yea i did, although im not sure what wire gauge im dealing with atm.. either way right now i worried further because i cant even get the key to turn...i dunno why because i havent touched the ignition system or alarm system..

post up a pic of what you are trying to do...the console area...wires etc...

k, 1 sec, The wire thats running from the selector i think has to be cut the directions say
1. You will need to follow the overdrive wire under the center console and disconnect it at the connector. This will allow you to remove the handle completely. Its hard to get to. So another method would be to cut the wire remove the handle and then splice them back together after with solder and electrical tape.

ok, yeah i see what you are trying to do...ive done it before... cut the wire...you could use a butt connector if you had to... I cant see a need to solder it...its not a wire that goes to anything that is effected by resistance changes. Its just overdrive on/off.

ugh, im having serious doubts about this product, I was doing the wiring and i got the O/D button working but now i gotta get it working with the bracket mount, wich has a really wierd angle. When i put it on it pulled out the wire from the but-connectors(which for some reason i cant get to clamp down well) and i tried putting em back in and etc, but now i cant get the button to work, So i figured **** it ill just get a dealership or etc. to get that working so i tried putting on the shifter **** itself. Now when i try to put the **** on it doesnt shift right, it sticks allot and most of the time wont let you shift out of park or let you back into it. It seems like something very simple to do but idk i think i might have gotten a bad part

Radio Shack sells some solder strips that you wrap around the wires and then heat up with a lighter, but since you can't handle butt connectors, don't worry about it. Common man you gotta figure this out. Just get the connectors right. Get the right connectors for the gauge your working with which will be small, somewhere around 14-22ga., push the wires in there good, clam them down, done. I like the connectors that have shrink wrap at the ends to help hold the wires in, and other stuff out. Wiring is an important tool in life, when you move out, how are you going to install a ceiling fan, LoL? Your on the right track, just work with it.

Its not really the fact that the wiring is hard its just that, when you slide the bracket for the O/D button it moves the wire around allot. And the only way to make sure it didnt move is if i put the bracket on then wired it and i would have next to no slack. At this point ill just be happy if a ford dealership or a shop can get it to wire correctly and shift right.

Yea it has a set screw, but even if i fully tighten it, it still doesnt shift right. Its kinda hard to explain so ill just post a few more pics. The bottom piece is the bracket for the O/D button and what i try to do to make it easier is connect the wires with the bracket off because its easier, and when the wires are connected slide the bracket on. Whenever i slide the bracket on though the wires are pulled down which pulls them out of the connectors. And with the shifter idk wtf is going on with it, its just bieng a pain in the ***. But atleast i know it look nice whenever its done. Although i think i might be completely wrong about the shifter because whenever i tried to use the stocker shifter again, it still was doing the same thing. MAN!!! This is some confusing ****! The wiring isnt so bad but now im really wondering why the shifters wont work, the wierd part is i can shift it with my bare hand by pushing down on that white little ****, wich is what the shifter is supposed to do, but whenever i put either of them on it wont move GRR!!!

Yea, whenever i try to wire it w/o the bracket on and then put it on after it pulls it apart, but i think if i try to wire it with the bracket on i might be able to get it. The really confusing part though is the shifter itself, and why it wont move with the stock or new **** on.

This has to be the easiest thing to do and ya'll have made it to be the hardest thing in the world...
I had gotten mine from UPR at FFW last year, and it had that o/d button relocation connector you have in your picture connected to the shifter there too and I was like WTF do I do with this...so instead of trying to figure it out I just bought a push button and some wiring from radio shack, a little sodder, and flex to go over the sodder so I knew it wouldnt come loose or have any wire showing.
here is mine:
I just cut the wires that went into the o/d button and sodder new wire going to the 2 wires( -/+ ) and then ran the wire down and it just barely hangs out by the drivers seat if I want to press the button to have o/d turned off or on. I will eventually maybe drill a small whole and mount the button up near the shifter bezel or near the cup holder for easy access instead of having it down near the drivers seat and you can be creative and get a toggle switch like its a nitrous button or eject button if you choose.

Idk, im more worried about why it wont shift at all atm, i just hope the ford dealership can fix it. And krazy, yours is a standard mines auto. And yes i know it seems simple but im still wondering why it wont shift with either stock or new *****. The wiring part ill worry about if i can get it to shift.

And the reason it probably isnt shifting is because there is a like white/clear **** button that gets pushed at the top of the shifter right underkneath the shifter ****. And if its not pressed down fully it will not engage to P/N/D/1/2/3 so you have to make sure you have the shifter put on fully and the torq screw put back in place to hold it there.

Wait, yours isnt standard? really? Oooh okay now i see it, i figured maybe you just left it like 3rd or 4th gear whenever you took picutres, my bad. Where'd you say you got that from again?
