Well i was driving threw my neighborhood and they decided to start paving the roads for summer, well i tried to go as slow as i could but still heard the gravel chip "sound" and my fender well's are pretty much covered with caked on tar! With a few hard scrubs, i got most of the rear well's done but i got some hairline scratches due to that and now i don't know what to do... anyone of you guys have had this problem or know what to do?? Its on there pretty good!

I have tried the bacon soda/water paste idea no, and the peanut butter idea sounds ridiculous.. anything else?? thanks!

 

never had that happen to me. but usually goo gone, paint thinner or ice cream cake solves everything :P

 

the easiest way to remove tar is with wd40 takes it right off without damage as for the scratches just wax the hell out of it with buffing compound then polish it

 

That makes no sense.

You can try a paint cleaner such as Dupont prep sol or Wurth clean solve. As for the scratches, theres a lot that you need to consider. Cant give you much advice without seeing the car.

 

why? he said he removed the tar and now has scratches the last time i checked scratches are removed by what....Buffing compound

 

Waxing is a process in itself, you dont wax with buffing compound. You also shouldnt be telling him to use a buffing compound without seeing the paint in person. It isnt always required to remove scratches.

 

ok, whatever im not arguing with you about auto-detailing it was just a suggestion I used to do auto-detailing for 4 yrs and worked in a collision center so you don't need to preach to me... lol

well guys... i went to kroger saw the wd40 and then saw a bottle of "goo gone", so i went with that, says it removes greases tar & etc. Apply goo gone on, let it stand for bout 2 mins and wipes right off! awesome stuff!

 

Yep, goo gone is another option.

 

goo gone is nice i used it to remove the warning stickers on my motorcycle when nothing else would take it off. wd40 is milder I use it to remove like that "sticky" tar kind of like chewed bubble gum.
