Painting the whole thing!

Soon every trim panel in the car will be black, from the dash to the rear trim.. No more Gray/ black ugly mix ****.. Except ofcourse for my seats/ carpet.

I think Im going to order new black carpet soon as well.

I am painting my accent pieces (door handle's/ bezels, door switch bezels, gauge trim bezels) blue to match the car.

It looks a little light in some places because of the flash, but trust me this stuff is looking awesome!

It is a pain in the ***, but it's all gonna be worth it in the end!

It is a Semi-Gloss with Dye. Like I said, Ill get pics and a list of everything. Im using interior specific 'paint' not using cheap spray paint.

Should be done Thursday or Friday.

 

Well as far as the dash goes.. Im not going to pull the whole thing out. So far I have pulled out the...

-Radio Bezel
-Shift Bezel
-Center Console
-Front Kick panels
-Lower Kick panels
-Door Panels
-Back Armrests

Im going to tape off the top of the dash and just spray the lower dash in the car.. The only area im the least worried about is the steering wheel.

As for the seats, I can't really figure out what I want to do yet... I've seen some really cheap deals on ebay for racing buckets, but I don't really know the brands so im reluctant to buy.. I will prob. end up getting some custom fit seat covers. Still need to figure out what to do about the carpet.. hmmm LOL!

Im about 75% done, so far it has taken about 3 days or so.. Should be done tomorrow.. Except for my door pull bezels and gauge bezel, because they had dents/ cracks from wear and tear so im going to have to order new or slightly used ones..

Passenger door Finished. Driver door is soaking this stuff up due to normal wear, so im going to have to put a couple more coats on it.


Wetsanding is annoying, but unfortunately usually a necessary step on these round bezels.. Can't wait to get this all finished!..


I ordered a couple of things to set everything off, Blue/ Black leather shift ****, Billett Light Plug, Billett door lock pins.

So far I have nearly $75 in materials (paint, adhesion promoter, clear, sand paper, etc) but I think that this is going to add quite a bit of value to the car in the long run.. and it's going to look SO much better.

 

Will-Do.. So far the biggest thing has been how much you have to use.. My car has been under 9 years of abuse from the sun among other things so most of the vinyl is soaking this stuff up like nothing.. I've used nearly one full can on the drivers door alone..

 

Ok, Lower dash is painted. Im about 90% done!.

What's done:

-Center console (back in the car)
-Radio trim (back in the car)
-Shift bezel (back in the car)
-Kick panels (back in the car)
-Floor door trim (back in the car)
-Rear arm rest panels (back in the car)
-Door Panels (not in the car)
-Door Handle cups (not in the car)
-Glove compartment (not in the car)

Still waiting on the gauge trim bezel, should ship Monday and the door pull bezels. They were ****ed from being painted several months ago, because I was impatient and didn't do them correctly.

Let me tell you guys, this has been one hell of a project!.. I wouldn't want to do it again, but so far I am exceedingly happy with the results and I think it is going to end up looking Awesome!
