Default Enclosures...

Alright, so after the exhaust I'm going to start working on my system..while I do all my other stuff...

Anyways I'm thinking I want to go with MA audio 10s or 12s ...what it depends on for the most part, is my enclosure...

I was thinking about getting the back seat delete, and having a custom box to fill the hole, going with 12s, and having the subwoofer show ..

Or if I go with 10s, a buddy of mine who has a Cobra has like...3 or 4 in his trunk with a box that basically lines his trunk, and then his amps are built in where his spare tire/jack and such would be..

Only problem with this is...I would like to keep the rattling to a minimum but still having a good thump..

Any ideas? Price ranges?

I'm peicing it all together...subs/box/speakers/deck ect..and then taking it to a guy here in town that has a pretty good reputation for doing interior/system work on cars.. its just I'd rather buy all my stuff on the net because its relatively cheaper then buying it in my town..

Also, whats a decent amp? I was thinking about going with JBL or something.. and also..what would be good speakers to replace the stock speakers I've got?

Are capacitors with this small of a system worth it? Crossovers?

I'm thinking about looking into a pioneer touchscreen deck..any better options then that?

Any reply with some sort of input would be appreciated, thanks. =)

My trunk area is surrounded with dynamat. As long as the enclosures are quality built and you eliminate the usual taillight squeak, license plate and spoiler rattle, then you should be fine. This is of course if you decide to put them in the trunk. The rear seat area would be even easier IMO. I took out my rear seat just yesterday to clean under there. There is lots of room and would be easy to run wires to. Not as many possible squeaks and rattles either I would think. But the rear sear enclosure would have to be big and probably not easily removable. I have Rockford Fosgate P2 10" subwoofers molded to the sides of my trunk and a 1200 watt amp on a fiberglass rack in the middle. They were built to take up little space and be removable for the drag strip and autocross. I spent probably around $150 in materials for the fiberglass and over $1000 for the subs, Pioneer head unit, and amp, not including the massive amounts of dynamat, and wires.

I'm not too worried about removing it.. mainly because I don't plan on it.. I don't do alot of racing..and if i do..its just light to light or something...i'm a street warrior :x I'm trying to go for looks, do something that most guys in my town don't have, without having to drop a massive amount of cash. (If it is like 2 grand or so i'm not super worried, i just plan on peicing it.)

Those Fosgates..do they hit really well? Audio place in town has two 12s for sell for like...300 bucks or something..

I have 2 12" rockford fosgate p3's and a rockford fosgate 1000 watt amp that tested at 1240 watts. Alpine head unit. And my dad built my custom box for me to fit in my trunk. and made a amp rack for it. I am very impressed with my set up.

You are in the times of big subs. screw two subs and go with one monster 12 and be prepared to push 1500+ rms on it and youll be extremely happy. Get a big ported box and do a seat delete and fire the sub into the cabin of the car. Id make the box out of 1" MDF and coat the inside and outside with a bed liner like rhinoliner or line-x.

I would also line your entire trunk with a sound dampner similar to dynomat but try secondskin instead. I was part of a review committee in my car audio days and I tried all of the product that second skin had available and they have really nice stuff for a great price. www.secondskinaudio.com is the website. I had my entire trunk done with DampX and my trunk lid in STFU-80 and it kept rattling down and sound in.

For subs, id stay away from anything mainstream now. You can get insane prices on monster "internet" brand subs that youll pretty much only see or hear about in the world of car audio competition. I would look into brands such as FI Audio, Adire, Elemental Designs, DD audio, Treo Engineering, TC Sounds, Stereo Integrity, Resonant engineering, ect. I could keep naming forever but if I were you, I would read up on this link and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
