Question Grills, etc...

Hey guys - I'm new to the Mustang. In fact, new to Fords (40+ years of GM inbreeding is hard to get over). Just bought my daughter a '94 GT Convertible with 5.0 and 142K miles. She loves it, I love it. Sorry it took so long. Here's the question: It doesn't have a grill, just the pony. I've noticed a 4.6 GT in my office parking lot that also doesn't have a grill. Does the '94 come with one? Where can I go to find some good info (all around info, not just looks...) on the '94 GTs?

I don't believe 94-98 came with grills, they just came with the pony. If you're looking for a good grille idea my brother just installed a chrome billet grille painted black and put a 00-04 v6 side pony emblem on the right side of it. I don't have any pictures but it looks sick, if you want to know more let me know.

Thanks guys. I think I'll leave it alone, since it came that way. One other question. Is 94 the only year the Mustangs went with the horizontal tail lights? Does anyone make a convert kit to make them vertical like the other years? By the way, great pics from all of you!

I am not sure about the tails, but as to the grill, Ford changes them through the years. To matters harder, the "tuner" cars from Saleen, Roush, etc... usually change the grill a bit and a lot of owners seem to find it necessary to do their own thing. As a result, it can be hard to guess the year of a car from the grill.

For example, in 2000, you have a stock GT grill, a Saleen Grill, a Roush grill, a Bullitt grill, and then a whole bunch of customized stuff.

If you want to maintain the stock appearance of your car, I would simply do some checking on Edmunds and find some Ford literature photos to match up what they have vs what you have.

Welcome to the Mustang world and thanks for being older then me (I assume). At 39 years old, there are not many guys older then me on this site - lol

94-95 horrizontal tails
96-98 vertical tail

to do the swap you need the tail lights AND the brake wire harness

not worth it IMO

I'm 45. Elder maybe, but wise... I'll defer that title to Randy. He's Mr. Mustang! :-)
