Retune?

Retune?
Do udp's require a retune?
Also, you guys should make the fact that you don't retune parts not purchased from AM for free more predominate on the tuner pages. I was kind of angry after I called for a retune for a throttle body and plenum I got from a friend to find out they will charge me money. I had no idea. Kind of lame IMO. And I didn't see anything anywhere on the site about not being able to retune if the products weren't bought from AM.

Should not matter as all they do is click some options boxes and the comp spits out a new tune. They don't make their own tunes. They use a stock pile from SCT.
Regardless UD pulleys don't change anything a/f wise or spark wise so no change is needed in the tune. They just let the aux items spin slower to free up power.

None of us on here work at AM or are AM representatives. Only AMNick and AMStanger can address your concerns.

I don't work for AM and have no vested interest in their business. However, I can tell you that it is completely standard for a "tuner" to charge for "re-tunes". They all do it except for situations where there are adjustments and problems etc.. It cost money to maintain the tunes, take risk, and pay for labor. The retailers make very little money on the mark-up from the devices themselves (chips, tuners....) so their only opportunity is on re-tunes. Heck, I paid thousands to have my car set-up, blower installed and a dyno tune. And, guess what...I moved and needed my tune modified for different fuel and had to pay...that is the way it works.
There is a lot of competition in the Mustang after-market. Places like AM are nothing more then retailers. As such, they have little opportunity to differentiate themselves because what they sell since you can buy the same stuff a hundred other places. So, they use things like price, promotions (such as free shipping), placement (advertising in the right mags) etc...to get you to buy. The fact that they offer "free" re-tunes when you buy items from them is really a great idea and very unique. It is a sound strategy and is consistent with other things they do. I don't think you will find this anywhere else. Why should they put themseles out for you for something you got elsewhere? That really makes no sense.

To answer the op's original question, underdrive pulleys don't require a re-tune.
To address the secondary concern about the op being charged for a re-tune: we list our policy under the 'Free Tunes for Life' information link (which has helpfully been posted and linked to above, thanks!), which is listed at the top of our tuner page, and next to the information section for each individual tuner. We don't conceal the information. Please keep in mind that we charge a nominal fee of $15 for a re-tune. Most tuners charge anywhere from $50 to $100 for a re-tune. The only time we charge that fee is if you get the parts from another vendor. If you require a re-tune for parts you bought from us, the re-tune is free. Every time. So if you get a throttle body (from AM) and ask us for a fresh tune, we'll write one for free. And if six weeks, or six days, or six months later you get an intake (from AM) and want us to write another fresh tune for you, we do. For free. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me.
