no, it's too small to drill out in most cases. it's more work than it's worth. i left the little cap off the top of mine. you dont need it.

btw, greg you still have a flagpole on the front of your car...

Tools n Supplies

1. an antenna that has the same diameter from top to bottem.(cant use the ones that have the "swirls" goin down)
2.something that will pop the lil ball off the end (i used a pry bar, vise, and small hammer)
3.something to cut yer antenna w/ (i used an airtool cause i'm lazy)
4.a file (used a grinding wheel cause again, i'm lazy)
5.spray paint... if ya want to paint it that is (i did despite being lazy)

sismple procedure...
1. pop the ball off the end of the antenna... It should not be hard... the only thing holding it on is pressure... and beware... when it pops off it flies!
2. well now yer gonna cut the antenna to length... you can use a some heavy duty snips, or or an air or electric cutter...
3. file down the end a tit bit, just get all the barps off and maybe even give it a bit of a taper.
4. popped that son er bitch ball back on (if ya ever found it after it was removed, lol)
5. paint it if a want... after drying put it back on...
6. Say to yerself... "Yeh, I'm Awesome"

For those of you that have a hard time w/ mechanical ****... to remove the antenna ya have to TURN it... And remember, Righty tighty, lefty loosy...

I also used the swirled one.
Cut mine to roof height.
I turned down the larger diameter shaft to the size of the ball hole and tapped the ball back on with a rubber mallet.
To size up the ball hole and shaft measure it with a micrometer or dial caliper.
Real easy to do. Almost as easy as putting LT Headers on with a stock K-member.

I hate to jack this thread, but there is another alternative to cutting the antenna. Throw in an electric one. I liked the clean look of no antenna, but still wanted my radio, and also have never been a fan of chopped antennas, so I came up with this deal right here. It has a toggle switch to raise it up and down (it is also connected to the igniton) and it is awesome when it comes to reception. Plus I get a saucy clean look when it is in.

$30 bucks at AntennaX.com. I am not one to really hype up other companies, but their antenna has served me very well. I just reused the old antenna housing on the hood and it was a perfect fit for the electric antenna. I wish I would have taken pictures of the install, but it was really really easy. Just removed the inner fender splah gaurd, ran the two wires on the antenna unit through the wall where the stock antenna cord goes into the fender, grounded a third wire, hooked on to a hot lead and the other to an ignition lead. AntennaX sends you the proper adapter to fit your antenna wire so no need to rerun that and remove your head unit. Whole instal was about 30 minutes. I had my hot lead run to a toggle switch so that I could choose when it was up or down.
