Default So I was offered a FREE supercharger today...

A buddy of my good friend and I were talking today. Apparently he's real big into cars. He's had an 88 5.0 that was completely built, and a 9 sec eclipse. He's done everything himself so I'm assuming he knows what he's talking about. He tells me today he has a stage 3 supercharger off a GT500 laying in his garage with only about 1000 miles on it. He then says he would put it on my car free of charge. ALL FREE. I'm thinking theres no way in hell this would work, too good to be true. I have a bone stock (except for cai and exhaust) 3.8L V6. Would this supercharger fit/work on my car? He says it will, but I don't know. This would just be insane if it were to happen.

If it did work there would be some major custom fabrication needed to be done and you may need a cowl hood.

Take the supercharger for free, then sell it and buy one that will work with your car.

You'd have to have a custom intake plus figure out how to make the drive belts line up correctly to turn the blower plus fuel upgrades, pump, injectors not even mentioning the tuning required.

I haven't read anything about this being done so I would bet that it would be far more trouble than it's worth if it is even possible at all.

If it's a working blower and he wants to give it to you, take it and sell it.

Thats not a 3.8 engine.

Looks to be a newer 3v 4.6. Close but no cigar!

There is an adapter plate that will allow the use of the 03/04 Cobra Eaton on a 3.8L. But I don't think there is anything out there that will allow a GT500 s/c to work on a 3.8L.

I don't see that supercharger being very efficient with your car and sure you're going to get the supercharger free, but all the other **** you're going to need will come out to a lot of money. Do what everyone says, take the supercharger, sell it, and get something thats more affordable and easy for your application. You're still in High School aren't you? You won't be able to afford getting that GT500 supercharger to work.

Yeah man. Sell that **** then buy one for your car. Or just keep the money.

If you buy a kit for your car it will likely have everything you need.

It CAN work, but the amount of money you'll have to throw at it to get it to work is just not worth it.

This is exactly what I was thinking. He insisted it would just bolt up and everything would be fine, but I just didn't think that was probable. I doubt he'd give it to me to just sell, so I guess I'm going to have to pass on this offer. That thread that was linked gave me hope, but it's still just too much for me right now. I graduate in a few hours, then head off to SENIOR WEEK tomorrow afternoon. I'm broke do to alcohol expenses lol. No way I can afford to make it work atm.
