Default procharged 408 stroker and new to the s/c scene

this is my first post on mustang boards so i hope to get good advice and return the favor on some things!

im on my first adventure down the supercharged lane so im looking for a little advice

what i have is a dart block 351w based 408 ( 9:1 compression )with a lunati mechanical roller cam ground for the blower. a csu blow thru 850 carb. edelbrock victor jr intake and out of the box 210 cc heads with upgraded valve springs. and a procharger F1r. all is almost ready to install into the car but im concerned about the HEADS

will these heads be sufficient for my project with around 17 pounds of boost and 7500-8000 rpm? i know it would help to have them ported but is this something i need to address NOW.

this is my main concern.... i have 4.10 gears in it and have a set of 4.88s im thinking about putting in but i have been told this is not a good idea ( 28/10.5 slicks ) in the 1/8 mile.

this is a track only car and im looking for 5.70s to be honest. ANY ADVICE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. thanks in advance

Welcome to the Boards !

What brand are the heads and how many cc's are the combustion chambers. This will determine the total compression ratio. 17 psi of boost is alot for a 9 to 1 9.5 to 1 motor.
8 to 1 would be an ideal compression for you setup I think. If you already have all the parts and want to use them. I would start at a lower boost level and work up 17. Better safe than sorry.

Sounds like that thing is going to be a horse when its done. Good Luck

thanks for the welcome

it is a 9:1 compression...i was lucky enough to get it down to that as the victor jr heads are 60cc.

yes this is a moderate amout of compression for say 17 to 20 pounds of boost but i have seen drag cars with more compression ( 10:1 ) and basicly the same similar setup.

what im more concerned about is the heads being able to flow enough for high rpm operation as all it is for is trailering to the track...i know for sure the exahust side can use some work but im more worried about the heads being a big bottle neck so to speak.

as far as detonation goes i have a msd system with boost timing management built in and its only going to see race fuel.
