Nitrous on High Mileage Motor??
I was wondering if it would be alright to spray a 75 shot of nitrous into a car that has 147,000 on the clock? It has been well maintained and still runs strong. I was looking at the Zex systems and they look like they would be the safest system. Or would it be better to do a PI Head Swap, I only have around $600 to spend right now. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Can I get the swap for $600 or less with everything I need to do the swap? Thanks!

yes you can get all the parts, but the install is alot more expensive. If your doing it yourself then im jealous and wish I had as much mechanic ability as you do. I wouldnt like spraying a car with that many miles if I wasnt prepared to pay for a new motor if anything was to happen. Normally a 75 shot would be completely safe, but if there is anything in the engine that is close to coming loose, the nitrous will surely find it faster. I would do the PI swap simply because you are getting new heads and valvetrain. Thats whats normally seems first to show wear on any car. Honestly, you could find a decent complete engine for not much more than what you have now. I bought a PI engine once for $500 and it only had 47,000 miles on it. It was a deal from a guy that lives nearby me. He was asking $1000 at first. If you could do that, you would have something you could add nitrous to later and itll keep you running good longer too. $600 will just barely buy a nitrous kit. Then you need possibly fuel pump *questionable*, bottle heater, gauge, window switch, etc...so I really think youll end up spending more on it plus you have to get the bottle filled....I say get the whole engine
