Default Alright

Well, I have an offer I can't refuse.

This guy is offering me a nitrous kit for $120. Its coming off his GTO, he says what I would need to do is get a solenoid and a fogger.

On my v6 I only plan on shooting an 80 shot. Hes got the purge, ect and everything I need.

Now, heres my question...and I'm sure as I go along more will come..

I'm an automatic, at what RPM range should I be spraying?

I'm not looking to be a super sixer..I just want to suprise a few GTs at the track, one in particular..

So..any good pointers for the nitrous noob? (BTW I have red waters Nitrous 101 Thread a few times, I'm sure theres going to be a few things I'm going to need to buy..I'll keep you posted. Also, I haven't looked at this kit yet so I don't know if its a wet or dry kit.)

Why do you need to buy the fogger and another solinoid?

You can do a 75shot all day long on the 3.8 and it will love it. The general rule of thumb is dont spray below 2800-3000rpms. Since your an auto car you will just spray threw the shifts. Some people like to use window switches but honestly its a auto just use the switch and flick it on above 3k rpms and hold the throttle down till your done and lift and it will shut the kit off for you. I could go on and on, but lets wait till you know what kinda kit your getting your hands on.

Because the fogger and the solenoid he had he already sold to a guy. A buddy of mine has both and he'll sell them to me for like $20.

So... at about 3k RPMS spray till the car shifts?

You do not want to spray below 2800-3k rpms in any gear as it could allow the fuel to puddle and backfire in the manifold.

For an auto car i would simple just go to WOT once its over 3k flip the arming switch and your off spraying away and just let the kit spray threw the shifts. As in keep your foot in the throttle and continue spraying.

Ha ha I am.

Met him to take a look at the kit.

NX Wet Kit brackets and everything.

Only bad part is he only has one button (i'll end up buying multiple) and he called up his mechanic to see if he had solenoids for me. He did, so I'll have the solenoid tommorow. Hes going to install for me for free.

Im going to be there during the install so I can learn ..and I'll probably research about it tonight.

Cars coming together, rims/tires when taxes come in.

Oh ya, If I buy gears and a tlok and I use a tuner to recalibrate..will I need to tune for the nitrous?

You will need one tune for nitrous and one for without nitrous. Untill you do all that the stock tune is fine with a 75shot. You will need to run one step colder plugs and 93 octane when you are spraying.

91 will be ok for a 75 shot. When talking about power adders you need to run "colder" plugs meaning they take out more heat from the combustion chamber. This helps keep detonation away. They also need to be copper either NGK TR6's or Autolite 103s will work for you. You will have to ask for them as the parts stores cant search for colder rang spark plugs.

i use autolite 103's. They are great and cost me about $50-$60.

p.s. you will LOVE the nitrous. the only way i can discribe it is this:
take you car to 3k rpm in 2nd gear and nail the throttle. Imagine that much more of a push when your already flooring it. That my friend is a great feeling.

Good luck and let us know how the install went... mine took 2 days for everything.
