Default Cobra supercharger....

Ok I know this question has probably been answered tons of times but I could'nt find it so I figured I'd ask. If I pick up a used supercharger off an 03 or 04 cobra... would I be able to bolt it on to my 03 GT? I know I'd probably need a new Manifold but would all this be hard to do?

Sorry bud, but your going to have to custom fab up a lower intake to make it work. It would not be even worth the trouble to do that.

I think it's FAST that's supposedly coming out with a manifold for the swap. It's going to limit the overall power you can tap out of it but it should be a good entry level blower kit for DIY guys.

FAST Specialties and another company are both coming out with kits for your GT. Give it a few months and you should be able to have a Cobra M112 on your stang.

I'm trying to get a non-intercooled kit (boost limited to 8-10psi) made by HPS. He wants to finish the 5.4 intake first though and then I'm really shooting for a HPS 3v 5.4 intake then a C head 5.4 intake and then a B head 5.4 intake.

Fast Specialties and JMS have tested the new manifold and Magnuson M112 and the manufacturer Tork Tech Inc.has now gone into production. They have decided to make 4 kits available. 1 is a non-intercooled tuner kit, one is an intercooled tuner kit, one will be a non-intercooled complete kit and one a intercooled complete kit. Expect to make about 345-350 rwhp with the non-I/C kit. Prices should be posted by the end of this week.
A production unit was installed yesterday on a 2003 GT with about 60K miles. Made 403 rwhp. 368 torque from 1900-5900 RPM. To install a non-IC kit you could install it in about 3 hours.
The testing took longer than expected, because of parts delays, and also making sure it fit both the Romeo and Windsor blocks.
The idea of installing used 03-04 Cobra S/C has not panned out. Although it could be done, when you put together a parts list of what is needed, even shopping on e-bay, the cost will hit $4500.00 &up and the new Magnuson puts out about 40-50 more HP.

Ron

Thanks for the update Ron. Sounds like a good setup to have. Then again, I'm a bit partial to roots blowers.

ok so, im dumb when it comes to the cobra blowers.

the kits by Tork Tech use the M112 which is the same supercharger as on the Cobra? Is this correct?

I wonder how high up the thing sits and if i can fit it under a shaker. lol

4,300 dollars? I'd rather put a Procharger on my car for that money.

I would push HPS into the 5.4l DOHC "B" intake first!
Look at all the cheap dohc "B" heads out there. I can pick up a set of used dohc"B" heads from a Lincoln continital for $100 set easy or the whole motor for $200.
But the DOHC "C" heads watch out! $300-$400set.
The "B" heads out flow any mainstreem DOHC head made. They do have some down falls, but still into a very competent engine!

I just bought an eaton kit with EVERYTHING (blower, upper and lower intake, jlt ram air, aftercooler, heat exchanger, timing cover with pullies and tensioners, alternator, oil cooler and adaptor, fuel pumps and tank, and all connectors and wiring) for $2,500. The only things i need for it are throttle cable, cruise control cable, gaskets, guages, and a new braket for the shaker scoop. It was a steel!!! If you look hard enough, you'll find one.

A lot of people think that they can just buy the s/c for $400.00 and bolt it up to their engine. This is not the case at all. There are over 70 different parts needed to do this swap correctely. All the parts new from Ford are something like $6,000.00. They are not impossible to find on forums though. For a whole writeup on the swap go to mach1registry.com and look in the power adders section for the Eaton Swap thread.
