Well I called vortech yesterday and asked them about my s-trim head unit. I gave them the serial number off of it and he just popped up the history on his computer. Kinda not so good news. The previous owner had the blower serviced 1 year ago. That includes new seals, bearings, and whatever adjustments are necessary. A full service from vortech costs $360. So it seems that it is in good shape, but he said the blower was actually made in 2000 and sold in 2001. So its actually 6 years old, but was used for 5, then had new seals/bearings in it last year. How long do vortech units last? Mine looks and sounds great, but should I consider another service, or a new head unit? The new head units have little ports on the volute side and mine does not. I dont know if there is any kind of difference between the two...I guess 8psi is boost nomatter what blower you have right?

Its still definately a good deal since I only paid $750 for the kit and around $50 for additional parts I needed.

 

Off topic, but are you using the nitrous with the blower?

 

I don't think so. I remember he said he was gonna take some pictures of his engine bay with both installed before he pulls the nitrous. unless you changed your mind or something?

 

I havent found a buyer for the nitrous. I am thinking of keeping it just because I wont get even half the money I put into it. I have talked to a tuner and he said it would be ok to run both just as long as it doesnt put me over 400whp. I would only consider a 50 shot and I prolly wont even use it......

 

it was rebuilt a year ago whats there to worry about?

Im waiting on the tuner to get me in. If it were my choice it would have been tuned by now. Its been running great, but I havent given it any boost at all.

I am taking it to delk for the initial tune. I will post the dyno graphs with a/f readings, so you guys can tell me if its good or bad. If its bad then ill have someone else fix it. I just dont have time right now to drive to atlanta or even memphis for a tune....
