Nice, you are going to love them. What did you decide about a speedometer recal tool?

Yes, they are electric, meaning you have to either have a Speedcal, or a tuner to correct the speedo.

You can really avoid whining from a good install and synthetic gear oil...

to avoid gear whine youll have to have them installed to the exact degree and backlash, which odds are nobody knows what those measurements are even the guy that installed them....

I think you should be fine as long as they were setup within spec and the guy that installs them this time sets them up right. Whine is bad, yes, it means the gears are wearing incorrectly. Just hope yours dont whine...

5,000 to 10,000 is the backlash spacing. its easier to eye em up and wiggle around to see the play in the carrier housing. less play is better but you dont want it too tight so that it cant move.

so do gears installation require people who know what they are doing?? or is it a basic kinda thing, that any "good" mechanic can do! cause i got two options!

You really want someone who has done it and really knows what they are doing.

Yes, do NOT just take your car to Joe Blow and him and his buddies say "Oh sure, you mean something in the transmission?" and you have to correct them and then they go "Oh yea, done it a million times..." Go to someone who knows EXACTLY what they are doing.

very good point! cause i was going to take it to a ford mechanic at my work whos said he's done it a milllion times, and he kept stressing i shouldve gone with 4.10's! 4.10's! 4.10's!!! and i was just laughing!! Well it looks like ill take it to a shop near me, that is for mustangs, these guys just work on mustangs so they know what to do! price is not gonna be nice to me tho, mechanic is charging $100, while performance autosport (mustang shop) charging around $200-250! any suggestions on this!? thanks

$250 is the norm. id say go to Performance Autosport, Mark Lamaskin the guy that owns it is pretty cool and while the gears are being installed you can look around at all the beautiful saleen's

Honestly, if the ford tech guy knows what hes doing, and really has done it before, then let him do it, save teh 150 bucks for the tuner.
