The sound is COMPLETELY different, I kinda like it, kinda don't. It reminds me of the engines that have lopey cams...without the lopeyness...

Except now there's an annoying clicking sound as I press on the gas around 2k, and I think it's an exhaust leak. But I dunno how to check it or fix it. I'll hae vids and a comparison tomorrow. For now, here's the dyno... I thought it wasnt weird that a) he didnt tell me about doing multiple runs and b) there's no a/f indicator :shrugs:

Did they put a sniffer in the one of the tail pipes?

Pretty much. CAI but we know that does nothing. And a diablo tune, don't forget that. I know madmatt has like, 249 hp and the diffrence between him and me is hes got stock headers and a tb/plenum, and I have stock tb/plenum and the LT's.

After calculating the drivetrain loss, it looks like I'm right at 300 hp at the crank!!!

And I wasn't ther during the dyno. Would someone recommend that I get it dyno'd again somewhere else that DOES show A/F ratio as well as does multiple runs(though I'm not 100% sure if he did just one run)?

Id feel better if I knew how it was actually running...if its a good tune..shouldnt be any issues...I just like to see the result myself..
I probably would..

Another thing... its tuned for 93, but the tank had 87 during the dyno...would that change the results or not? If I fill the tank w/ 93 and then redyno, should a few more ponies pop out?

Since there isnt any knock sensors to retard the timing I doubt it. I would think you would be having detonation with a 93 tune and 87 gas...but I could wrong..havent tried it in my car.

i think you will have a few more ponies with 93 octane. that dyno sheet doesnt say dynojet it says mustang dyno so if you get your numbers corrected you should have more horsepower then that paper says. i still say take it to the track to show what power your car has.

haha, with more power and the same tires, and crappy driving, my numbers would likely get worse...lol. But I will likely go to the track next thursday

he got some crazy low price.

since you are bay area try to call throttle stop in roseville ca they may have a good deal for header install. i know its about 1.5 hours away but they can do it. i cant remember the name of the other place in the south bay.

the place called coastal dyno gave me them for 325. I was stunned at the low estimate but theyre mustang specialists so...I trust them.

And they quoted me 500 flat for gears, install kit, and labor...pretty sweet deal. I'll go in next week for that

It's an 03. Can I really tighten up the headers if they're loose at the heads? Do i just get there through the engine compartment? I'll jack it up tomorrow to check things out

Honestly, that ticking may not be an exhaust leak. Me and Csledd both have this problem with SLP Lt's. It's, what my tuner called, "Droning". It's from the elimination of the Pre-lim cats from the factory mid pipe.
There isnt really a good way to solve it, except for winding down the windows and hearing the exhaust :shifty:
You'll get used to it, you can (should) only hear most of it with the windows up. Also since it was a reputable "Mustang" shop, I doubt there is a leak.

As for your numbers, I'm surprised you TQ wasnt higher.
I have an auto first off, but with my exhaust I was at 240RWHP and 284RWTQ. That's about 303 at the fly.

I still think they're gonna be tight as they can/should be. It's just normal with LT's

I'm wandering if maybe the 5.0's reacted just a little different than the 4.6. Eh, idk, I'm gonna check mine out myself anyways tomorrow.

I smelled fumes like a b*itch when the guy pulled the car around and I wasn't sure why that was. And I had the ticking noise with my other uncatted xpipe, soit very well may be the non-cat deal. Oh well, I'm poppin it up tomorrow either way and will get soem vids of the sound.

Oh and I did some math and the numbers that are printed are rounded. If you do the calcutation for tq being 286 @ 4300, thats' 234 hp, so that, plus I had 87 on a 93 octance tune, PLUS there was no A/f ratio tells me I need to take it to the shop down the street. They charge $80 for 3 runs. does that seem fair?

but for now im

they better not have a true 93 tune w/ the timing for that much octane if ur only runnin 87, kaboom is the best word to describe that...
too much timing + too lil octane = detonation =blown motor

I asked the guy about it and he said it was fine as long as I filled up with 93 on my next tank. Just to play it safe, I was on half tank and filled up rwith 93 right upon leaving the palce but that still means I have about 90 runnin thru. I imagine upon a complete refill it'll run the smoothest.

Me either, that is downright careless, and I would NEVER take my car back there if they did something like that. Who does that? Get rid of the crappy gas as soon as possible, while not getting on it.
