Default Ben's new car

Meet my hedgehog

sorry the pictures are crappy I don't have a very good camera and the car had condensation all over it. It's was perfectly clean when I picked it up but then I had to drive it a few hundred miles so now it's dirty

anyone wanna link the thread for sanding headlights cause this needs it

apart from that and a few minor cosmetic things this car runs amazingly well I sat in if for 3 hours straight and loved every second of it.

alot of people complain that these cars have no tq and if you look at just the numbers that's true 145 is not alot but because of the intake vct this think gives you almost all of it's tq from 2000 rpms on. It's just always there.

the 6 speed is so smooth and while you need to search for reverse a little at first very easy to get the hang of

it also came with brand new Cooper zeon performance all seasons which is sweet cause I will have autocross pics up after next weekend weather permitting

Very nice. I have always had a soft spot for the focus.

170 hp 145 ft lbs but the tq curve is pretty flat after 2000 rpms cause of the VCT and since it has a 6 speed you can stay in the power band the whole time

it's buy no means a drag racer but for autocross it's damn near perfect right out of the box

I got about 28-30 mpg in 6th gear all the way back from chicago to grand rapids

Looks like a very clean little car.

Get a Diablosport Tuner and open that bad boy up.

My first mods were that, a FocusSport Short Ram Intake, and a short-throw shifter and it felt like a beast on the track.

I love being able to hear the VCT kick in when it starts to grunt a little bit more.

Good choice once again.

when i was wrenching on my car i seen someone throw a cosworth intake manifold on their 2.0 focus...dude had the durteck or something not the zeteck 2.3 engine. I dont know which came in the SVT but im sure that manifold will open some new power on that motor.

Looks good man! Color definitely doesn't get any better, and it's definitely a lot better than the other "car" you were considering! I looked for an SVT focus for a long time before I got my Stratus.. There just aren't/weren't any of them around here and the few that were around were way over priced...

Those headlights look like they're gonna need a lot of work, maybe on the inside too.. I think I'd probably try to find a new/aftermarket set for it.

Yea that will help alot.

Are those headlights the real HIDs?

Because I have never seen the HIDs get that bad.

yes those are the HIDs from the factory and in the pic they look like a 1000x worse than they actually are because they are covered in condensation

Not really much attention from the ricers. But on my way home last night there was a dude in a WRX trying to line up next to me but I wasn't in to mood to get wasted so I just ignored him

Any crazy torque steer issues, I watched the RS focus episode of top gear from season 1 and Jeremy Clarkson and the Stig said the car kinda went where it wanted to go under hard acceleration or coming out of a corner more than any other FWD car.

The RS has about twice the tq that I have. So for me no I haven't had any tq steer issues. But when I am accelerating hard out of a corner I usually have a death grip on the wheel and I don't let it go anywhere I don't want

I never experienced torque steer with my SVT even after the turbo kit it still felt really easy to control. I mean any FWD car is going to have torque steer, but the SVT was the best FWD I have ever been in. Especially compared to SRT-4s and Cobalt SSs.

Plus, the RS and SVT is designed specifically to NOT have understeer or torque steer issues. Thats why the SVT has the raked stance and lowered a little bit, and the RS has a completely one-off suspension and LSD. But who knows...

I've heard that the rs has some torque steer but it's not as bad as the mazdaspeed3 and that has less torque
