Did you order that rear-end from a company or take it out of a GT or something else? If you bought it from a company, then I need some details

Looking for a solid rear-end as we speak...

ya it will be much cheaper if you just buy a 8.8.rearend with some gears, than to buy the 7.5 posi with gears/bearing kit etc...

The rear-end? No. But if you are asking about gears then yes. That is definitely something you should have a professional put in or you will only be waiting for something to break.

It should not change when your car shifts unless the tranny can't keep up cause its getting worn out.

That's awesome you love the new gears. I believe you had 2.73's in your car didn't you so that's a big *** jump in performance.

So, let's say I have a V6 with a 7.5" rearend. How would I go about getting an 8.8" with 4.10s?

you need to find one off a wrecked gt or someone who is willing to sell or like ebay or junkyards..and just buy the gears separate..currently trying to do the same.. no luck yet

You should have no problem finding some one with a solid 8.8 wanting to swap for your irs. Seems like everyone with an irs wants the solid, and everyone with the solid wants the irs lol. ****, if you lived close I'd swap with you. Just post up some threads looking for a trade, should be able to trade for a built solid, or straight swap plus some cash.

You just gotta look around for a good deal on one. Check out classified adds on the forums, or could even check out local craigs lists. I waited and waited and finally was able to find one locally with gears and fresh built posi. Just gotta be patient.

If i remember my stock shift points were like 4200rpm and whenever i started modding my shift points were changing....After getting my engine rebuilt and ported heads(lost of my mods b4 getting the rearend and gears) My shift points were at 4500rpms and then with the gears...they went up to 5000. And yes that may be tha case though (tranny gettinng worn out and needed a tranny rebuilt)

I searched craigslist and found someone selling a complete mustang rear end out of a fox body for $225.
Will this be able to go on my 02 v6 auto? Is it a good deal?

pretty sure it wont fit because they mount up different and you have to watch out of older parts like that.. sometime you'll be buying other people's broke parts.. but wtf man? u already know where the hookup on gears is at jk

For one it has drum brakes in the back which are much worse then your disc's. Two is that its about 1 3/4" narrower on both sides then your car. It will however bolt in.

Did your change your shift settings in your tuner? You should really have it set higher then 4500rpms anyhow. The 3.8 will spin to 6k no problem, though your not gonna make power up there without better mods or boost. I would however raise it up to atleast 5,500rpms.

Well i changed my shift press to 15 percent. Allthough i know that has nothin to do at the point it shifts at. Once i go back to my tuner, ill ask him to change it up to 5,500 rpms then
