Definitely part of the plan, (it drives me nuts too) I'm thinking H&R SS springs are in it's future.

I had FR500's........

They're not "hard" to clean, but they're a pain in the *** and you know it. Especially if you've got any kind of excessive brake dust at all. Plus, you have black FR's, much easier to make "look" clean than the anthracite was.

No spacers, just 10.5" wheels.

Everyons is entitled to their own opinion, Dave, so far everything that I've done to the car you've called a downgrade until about 2-3 weeks later when I talk to you on the phone and you're like "you know that's really starting to frow on me!.." So, yeah.. I'll just leave that one alone.

Val, I didn't even know they had Cobra's in BC until about a month ago. They also have Saleens and FR's in black chrome now. It was a tough decision, but I made the right one. Completely black wheels are boring and I HATE the fact that all of the DD wheels have black in the center and stupid aluminum dishes, it's just ******* stupid. If they made these wheels in ALL Black, I may have gone with them.

Also, the wheels look smaller because the Nitto's are so much bigger than the Sumitomo's. The dish on the wheels is huge and they're sexy as hell.


Either way, thanks everyone for your responses, some love them, some hate them. Either way we all know what opinions are like and we all know which one counts this time!

 

Looks great man. I think it needs a hood scoop or a different hood, and deffiantly some tint. I agree with the others lower the back a little more.

 

Actually, I havent said anything is a downgrade until now. I've said I didnt like certain things...but later they looked fine the more I saw them...not gonna be the case with this one though. And a phone conversion about the new rims would not be different than what Im saying in here... but...its not my car. you like it, that what matters.

I know you did, I actually thought these were going to be pics of powdercoated or painted FR's. I was just trying to say I can relate. The smiley was because I had no idea they would be that much of a pita to clean before I bought them. Sorry for the confusion.

 

I think that was a good choice and I am basically a shinny wheel fan but those look GREAT!!!

Does the finish on those wheels hold up and is there any special care you have to do to them?

you are basically the only *** that didnt like them. FR5's are the BEST wheel for that body style stang....they were DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE 99-04 MUSTANGS. for a reason...cause they fit the car the best due to the angles.

Hell, I think your rims look better than what Evan got.

I think they're a huge upgrade. I always thought the anthracite was really holding your car back from looking amazing. I like FR500's and all just the color didn't work with the color of your car

 

Oh come on guys, it's not worth arguing over.. Thanks everyone for your opinions, I appreciate the negative and the positive, but truth be told, only one person needs to like it and that's me. They look awesome on the car, much better than the anthracite FR's. Had the FR's been black or hypercoated there is a good chance that I never would have changed them, but the anthracite just never really appealed to me that much.. In-fact, I remember telling Dave that the day I bought the car from him, I told him that I actually kind of liked them better in person, but that I'd have to see if they grew on me anymore and they just never did.

Dave.. I wouldn't think that I would need to point this out, but the Cobra's were made in '03.. Specifically for the "new edge" Cobra. I'm not debating the fact that FR's are nice, but they just never were for me.

Also sweetening the deal is the fact that I sold my FR's for $750 with worn rear tires and about 50% front tires (sumitomo's).. I bought my Cobra's from Cruzin Concepts (AM Doesn't carry them) with Nitto NT555's, chrome valve stems & caps, mounted and balanced and new lugs for $1200 to my door.. So basically when all was said and done I paid for the rear tires. lmao

 

they dont look like 03-04 Cobra wheels though... they look smaller. The spokes just arent quite the same... your spokes seem thicker for some reason.
