Got F****** Rear-Ended!

I must have skipped over him saying that in the OP, I tend to speed read and miss minor sh** occasionally but I caught it in his reply.
And that's the first thing I thought when I saw his pics lol, really who still uses cassettes? I honestly haven't seen a tape deck in a car in years so when I saw the pic it just caught my eye and I had to ask

PS Glad you're ok and sorry about the car, been rear ended and it sucks!!!

I'm more worried about retards changing lanes into my lane.. It's happened several times since I got my custom exhaust installed. I mean I'm not going the speed limit and I'm in a mustang so I already stick out, not to mention my exhaust is pretty damn loud and people still try change lanes thinking nothing is there.. then of course as soon as they start to cross the white line towards me I floor it to get outta there and drop some exhaust bombs at WOT and then they realize and swerve back into their lane.. f'in morons

Not only have I been rear-ended, but I also have the distinction of having been front-ended as well . Dumbass bitch in a Suburban backed into me while we were sitting in the left hand turn lane. Apparently she decided that she wanted to move over into the next lane to go straight, and didn't check her mirrors. Caused $2000 worth of damage to the front of my Acura. Oh yeah.. I almost forgot the best part. She said if I called the cops she would tell them that I rear-ended her. So it took weeks for me to get the damn money out of her wallet to pay for the repair. Just another reason why I ******* hate other people.

What happened during the time you were getting her to pay for the repair? Was she a total bitch about it?
I hate people, too. That is one of many reasons. They're not only stupid, they're *********.

I carry an mp3 recorder in my stang for such/similar situations. I got it when I was in college to record lectures while taking notes in my history class in case I missed something because I can't write fast and the darn teacher talks fast. Haven't gotten to use it yet in the car but I'm sure it will come in handy if I ever get a dirty cop or some bitch backs in to me like what happened to you audi..
If you get one make sure it has good reception through pockets
Voice comparison is pretty easy just make sure you have on the entire time you/they are talking and say things out loud like their name and drivers license number when you are exchanging information. It's easy to lie in court but it's pretty damn hard to refute voice recorded evidence.
If you are worried about civil suits against you for recording a conversation without the other parties consent read the following: http://www.rcfp.org/taping/

There are some stipulations when using recordings during prosecutions but in most cases you should be in the win (don't quote me or take my advice over that of an attorney or lawyer)

excerpts:
Federal law allows recording of phone calls and other electronic communications with the consent of at least one party to the call. A majority of the states and territories have adopted wiretapping statutes based on the federal law, although most also have extended the law to cover in-person conversations. Thirty-eight states and the District of Columbia permit individuals to record conversations to which they are a party without informing the other parties that they are doing so. These laws are referred to as “one-party consent” statutes, and as long as you are a party to the conversation, it is legal for you to record it. (Nevada also has a one-party consent statute, but the state Supreme Court has interpreted it as an all-party rule.)
Twelve states require, under most circumstances, the consent of all parties to a conversation. Those jurisdictions are California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington. Be aware that you will sometimes hear these referred to inaccurately as “two-party consent” laws. If there are more than two people involved in the conversation, all must consent to the taping.
Regardless of the state, it is almost always illegal to record a conversation to which you are not a party, do not have consent to tape, and could not naturally overhear.

Oh HELL no. That's when I would unleash all the fires of hell on that bitch. If that ever happened to me, I'd call my dad because he would know what to do more than I would (and may god have mercy on her soul after that). I'd take pictures of everything around there, call the damn cops, get a lawyer and sue her until I was blue in the face and she was penniless and starving to death. Then I would **** on her grave.

I had an estimate done today for the damages and I don't think any of you will believe the cost. I got quoted at $7,600. I'll have to get you the report and details tomorrow because I'm too damn tired now but basically the cost is so high because entirely new parts are going to be installed along with a new cat-back and stereo. Apparently the stereo that you've all seen that is in my car costs $410. If I can get that money for an aftermarket H/U I will be the happiest guy alive. The stock exhaust from the cat. back costs about $333.
The damage was just as we thought, except my frame appears to be tweaked ever so slightly. If anything pissed me off, that's what did it. This car is a damn-near perfect Florida car; has never seen any snow, sand/salt, or accidents. What a blow...
I'll get you guys the details tomorrow. Night.

judging from your stereo your mustang is a 99 or 2000 and the damages exceed the cost of the whole car itself...most KBB prices and NADA prices for those year mustangs are in the 6-8k range.
dude your car is totaled...have fun finding a new one.

that is alot to do but i wouldnt say totaled.either way it'd be worth buying back if it is. trunk, lights and bumper cover, and live with the quarterpanel for awhile. if ur frames messed up back there just hook to a building and pull foreward a little and stretch it. when i rebuilt my car, i put it in my barn and hooked comealongs all over the front and straightened everything out. cost me 1k to rebuild an entire front end, bumper, radiator support, headlights, paint, the works. say ur neck hurts and get a settlement to fix it back.
#43
Don't worry... this bitch isn't going to get the better of me and my first car.
#44
Glad you're okay. Sorry about your car though. Before I even read the part about you only having your car for 1-2 months, I looked at the license plate and thought that exact thing. I too live in NY and I remember the "ESR" plates coming out in like June. As for the radio being busted, I don't know how that happened.
#45
No offense, but you're car is not really worth more than that $7600 damage bill. I have a 2000 GT and I know I wouldn't get that much for it. He wasn't putting you down, just stating a fact. I'd take the money and get a new car.
#46
Your car is totaled. If the damages are equal to or more than half of the vehicles value, 99% of the time the insurance company will consider it a complete loss and the car will be given a salvage title. You can be especially certain of this if there is any structural (sub-frame) damage at all.
Oh yeah.. PS. Rap sucks, holla! lmfao
#47
Here ya go. Insurance companies don't care what "you" think your car is worth, they only look at two sources. KBB and NADA. Even averaging all of the values @ Excellent (which they won't do) your car is only worth $6500.

The quote that I got was from the shop where we will be having the work done. We also needed to get a quote from a preferred shop as per the other insurance company's request. Their quote was just about $3,500. This is the quote that will be used for the damages, however...
These prices reflect used parts, not new. The collision shop that is doing the work can not even find a used bumper, nor will he truly try to. Once he "tries" to locate a used part and can not do so, he goes to the other insurance company, states that he cannot locate a used part and must order a brand-new part, and they pay him the difference seeing that this fact is beyond anyone's control.
The average benchmark for a car being totaled or not is 70% of the car's pre-damage value, which would in my case be roughly $4,500. So with the way I understand it, my car is not totaled.
And yes... I would never really think about doing any body work of my own in the shed behind my house (of which I don't have).

Despite some wrong ideas and lack of knowledge, my car indeed did go into the shop to get fixed. This is my second time writing this reply as I accidentally closed out of the first attempt, so I'm going to keep it short this time.
My frame was tweaked slightly, and the collision shop owner personally realigned my frame on his machine and although it will never be like it came from the factory, I'm damn sure it will drive and track just the way it did; they do great work. My quarter panel was scrunched up, but popped back out when the frame was pulled back into place. I elected to keep the stock quarter panel and have it resurfaced and painted rather than to install a used quarter panel so that the stock seams and body lines will remain. As far as the trunk and rear bumper go, they shop had a used trunk lid and bumper shipped. The trunk comes equipped with the 01'-04' 35th Anniversary spoiler compared to the stock OEM spoiler I bought my car with. The bumper is a "refurbished" used part that is ready for paint and is exactly the same piece my car had (just the stock, but I wanted to make sure I got the exact same part with the exhaust cutouts).
I'm going to the shop tomorrow morning to see how the car is progressing. What I'm thinking about right now is if truly want the new spoiler of the "Plain Jane" stock part that my car had. I always liked the 35th Anniversary's, but I'm having second thoughts. I'm not entirely sure if the stock spoiler can even be installed onto the new trunk lid due to the different mounting holes for the spoilers. I'm sure they can be drilled and filled before the parts are painted, but I'm debating whether I want the stock spoiler or the aforementioned. Personally, I have seen the latter on a black car, and it looks a lot meaner than mine, but I also like how my car came, and am hesitant to change it.
What do you guys/girls think?

35th Anniversary mustang was in 1999...the pic on the right is a pic of a 2001-2004 mustang spoiler. your mustang knowledge lacks.
i really got confused on what you wrote up there because you really dont know which spoiler is which...they are both OEM spoilers. the picture on the left that spoiler ONLY came on 1999 and 2000 mustangs. now, the 35th anniversary mustang in 1999 had different side skirts a small hood scoop gray paint on the spokes of the 5 star 17" wheels and the seats and dash had silver accents. what i listed there was all an option for 1999. i have a 2000 mustang that was a spring edition package and i got machine finished (shiny) 5 star wheels a small hood scoop black stripes on my hood and mustang filled letters for the bumper. now, the spoiler in the left pic came on all mustangs or as option for v6's in 2001+
leave the spoiler off and be different around town. that will give you the "bullitt mustang look.

dang... this isn't really relevant but i almost rear ended a dude yesterday... would have been bad, he was in a huge doge truck and i would have hit mostly his tires...
this is also my first car, but i was wondering about the whole pricing thing. i bought my car for 3500 and it didn't need too much work. had some stereo issues that i fixed with the help of my brother, and we had to replace a nasty fogged up headlight. it was wrecked when i got it but wasn't too bad i guess, but the front (fender)? driver side piece with the wheel well is not aligned very good with the left headlight, wondering how much it would be to fix, kinda bugs me from time to time. i'll post a picture later on.
i guess what i started out asking (but got way off topic) was did i get my car for a good deal? lol im a dork i know.

Well if something doesn't line up that's not a very good sign. The actual fender may be out of place or even worse, your frame may be tweaked. As for how much that would cost White, I'm not even sure.
The shop is going to be dry-fitting the parts this week and then it's on to painting them. I think I'm going to stick with throwing the stock spoiler back on but I just hope they can mount it ok seeing that the trunk lid is from an '04. I know they'll have to drill new holes to mount it and seal up the existing ones, but that shouldn't be a trivial issue at all.
I'll keep you updated. And thank you Stanger for your help, I appreciate it
