Default Got F****** Rear-Ended!

I've had the car now for about two months, give or take. It's my first car, and I have to admit... it's one hell of a first car. I've never been so attached to anything physical in my life and nor have I cared for anything as much as I've cared for my car. I've already spent countless hours cleaning it, working on it, and tinkering with it. Everyone in town already knows me for my nice, clean ride, but not for the time being!

I heard that Lil' Wayne was coming to town so my buddy and I decided to go buy a few tickets to the concert. We're on the way into town and my friend decides we should stop at a convenience store to get a few drinks. I come to a stop in the left lane of a two-lane road and am waiting for oncoming traffic to pass so I can turn left into the gas station, with my blinker on, and notice an SUV coming up pretty fast on my rear. A second later I'm rolling forward and saying the magical four-letter F-word.

The damage doesn't look all that bad, but it looks worse in person. I snapped quite a few photos but for some reason the one exterior picture above was the only one that turned out half decent in the sun. How my headunit got damaged, I'm not quite sure. Other than that it looks like I'll be needed a whole new bumper, trunk, and right rear quarter panel. Hopefully I'll even be able to squeeze a nice performance cat-back out of it

My neck is a bit sore, but my feelings are a bit more torn. Having my first car damaged is quite a blow. Time to get reimbursed and make it better than ever!

Going to talk to our collision friend that has done all of our work for years tomorrow and see what he says. The only part that really sucks is he is a really good friend, as you know as well as I do that it is always good to have a friend in the business for a number of reasons. However, our friend is getting out of the collision business this month after nearly thirty years of being in business because the insurance companies are killing his profits. His decision couldn't come at a worse time. Hopefully he'll either do the work, or recommend someone who will do quality work.

The trunk is made all of fiberglass, which I didn't know. As far as the head unit, I'm not quite sure what broke it. Perhaps the force of the impact from behind, but I don't see how. Now that I think of it I did have my cassette adapter in for my iPod... maybe somehow the cable tensed up and pulled on my head unit. I new aftermarket one is in the works, don't worry!

Are you sure your hand didn't go forward and punch it? (assuming it was near the shift ****.) Sometimes you forget things that you do during an accident. After my last accident I realized that I had shifted from D4 all the way to Reverse without knowing it. And that's a two-step process, which requires depressing the button while moving the lever at the same time. The accident before that I was sitting waiting to turn left on a road without turn lanes, and a guy rear-ended my car. I didn't realize until the car was towed to the shop that I had snapped the plastic turn signal stalk off with my left hand when he hit me. Crazy ****. BTW- Don't feel too bad about damaging your first car.. I LOVED my first car (Acura Legend,) yet I still totalled it.

Awww man that's sad to hear. I feel your pain. If my car ever got hurt I would be devastated. I'm not materialistic at all, but I do love my car.

While you're at it you should see if they'll replace the whole trunk with one off of a Cobra, with the shaved wing. =D

And get that cat-back.

This is what you get for listening to Lil' Wayne. This is life and fate's way of telling you to stop listening to shitty music.

Anyway, glad you are okay. Think of it this way; it could have been worse. The car can be fixed and you aren't harmed. From the looks of your rear tire in that picture, looks like you need a new set of tires. But it could just be the lighting in that picture.

By the way, don't you ******* know that you can ******* cuss on this goddamn bitch all you motherfucking want? **** that asterisk and censoring bullshit. Cuss your happy *** off!

Dude, that is quite a bit of damage.... I'm guessing $2500-3k, easy.

What did the person that hit you say about the whole thing?

Whos sig is this quote going to make it into? LMAO

OP, I am glad to hear that you are ok. I had a lady rear end doing like 5 mph and I was pissed even though it didn't do any damage. I couldn't imagine how I would react if my car was in an accident like yours or worse . Good luck with the repairs and I hope you get the exhaust you want.

Too bad your car is white or you could do what I did with my old Mustang and say that you want the whole car repainted because if you repainted just the bumper it would never match...

Dammit I was gonna jump all over the Lil Wayne crap. Karma is a bitch. haha. In all seriousness though, that sucks. I got rear ended awhile back, and it gave me an excuse to get a new rear bumper. It's not always bad.

As soon as I got my car I straight-up told my parents that if I ever get in an accident I am going to beat the living **** out of someone. As soon as it happened I flew out of my car and ran up to her car and yanked open to door only to find a 65 year-old woman... I couldn't really beat up a 65 year-old woman, but I sure as hell wanted to. All the woman had to say was "I'm sorry" about thirty times because quite honestly I think she was afraid I was going to go ape ****.

Woke up this morning and my neck is stiff as hell... I feel like a turtle when he's sticking his head out. Whoever commented on the rear tires; it's fine... what did you see? They're getting a bit bare in the back, but not too bad yet. I'm going to a shop tonight that one of our friends highly recommended (the guy that is getting OUT of collision) to get an estimate. I'm also getting a rental car.

And Black Sunshine, this is for you... I'm going to make sure that ******* bitch's insurance pays me good for the damage. Is that better?

It was me that said something about the rear tires. I said it basically because they looked like they were on their way to being bald. Don't let it get too bad before you replace them. You can ask PCola all about that.

Yes, it is.

That sucks so bad man, but I'm glad you and your friend are okay. Maybe your hand flew off the shifter and hit the head unit?

Well, that's what the car came with when I purchased it about two months ago. I've been meaning to replace it with an aftermarket H/U, but just haven't gotten around to it. It's been a lot cheaper to simply use my cassette adapter with my iPod and leave my tunes in the center console then to dish out nearly two-hundred bucks for a new head-unit. For me that setup worked just fine.

But now, don't you worry... I'll be getting a brand-new setup. I'm thinking the Pioneer DEH-P4100UB might be the winner. Or if I can squeeze the insurance I'll opt for something a bit more expensive, but I like that unit. Hopefully I'll be looking at catbacks too

Oh lol, wasn't trying to bash you for it anything I was just curious. Good luck with that insurance $ though, in my experience they don't give you nearly enough to work with

If you're going to get a single din unit, may as well get a good one, pioneer 6000UB or bust

Man, getting rear ended sucks, especially if you see it comming in the rear view. I got rear ended on my way to the drag strip once. I was suprised that big damn dodge dually didn't do more damage, I still went and raced at the strip. Hope everything works out for you.

I must have skipped over him saying that in the OP, I tend to speed read and miss minor sh** occasionally but I caught it in his reply.

And that's the first thing I thought when I saw his pics lol, really who still uses cassettes? I honestly haven't seen a tape deck in a car in years so when I saw the pic it just caught my eye and I had to ask
