Haha...my dad did anyway. Finally got something to replace his 1981 6cyl 4-eye, had it since it was new. Picked up this 96 V6 for $800 from one of my detailing customers. 127k miles, automatic, no t/c or abs, peanut butter interior. I'm calling it the beast.

Did some stuff today:
- new air filter
- oil change
- new wipers
- cleaned engine bay
- replaced 1 rear spring (this was a huge pain in the *** for some reason..took me 30 minutes to replace the rear springs in my 2000...). Gonna do the other 3 springs later this week. Also..it has a rear sway bar!! So I ****** unbolted it and gonna put it on my car...haha

Still on the to-do list:
- paint
- new battery
- passenger turn signal (anyone got one ?)
- restore headlights
- clean interior
- cut off limp dick
- new tires (going to use my stock wheels, triangles are even worse)

Cut off, the what? HAHA

How did you clean the Engine bay? Is it easier doing it your self or taking it to get it detailed, because I want to do it to mine. What color are you going to paint it? How hard is it to replace springs?

Very clean nice looking Mustang, I hate those bodys styles (of course mine is the same, but 1995 GT 5.0) and I want a newer one hoping for a 2004 GT. I like your car styling a lot more. haha

The single V6 exhaust pipe that sticks under the bumper is known as the limp dick.

I am a 'detailer' so I guess I would say it's easier to do it yourself? It's really not hard, cover up all of the electrical stuff as a precaution, spray the engine down with a degreaser then hose it off, dry it with a leaf blower/compressor + rags and air dry, clean rubber/plastic, paint, apply protectant, clean corrosion.

Changing springs is easy, www.mustangworld.com go to How-to's section.

And yeah, 94-98s are ugly as sin. IMO. lol

It's probably going to get repainted the factory red, but it's going to be a shitty macko embedded clearcoat paintjob...unless my friend feels like painting it.

No, even from the perspective of someone who isn't a detailer it's easier to do it yourself. I was nervous the first time doing it cause I was afraid of ruining something with the hose. But everythign turned out ok.

Eww I hate single exhaust. Why do they call it the limp dick though? That sounds dumb to ask.
Lucky, I live like half a block away from a detail shop. What exactly do you all do? How much is it roughly?
Yeah I agree, but this is my actual first car I paid for and was a good deal. But I want a newer styler, but I don't like the 05+ styles at all. Isn't that color the factory color? Oh yeah thank you a lot for that website, so much better. I don't know anything about fixing or working on cars, besides like the wheels, lugnuts and really really easy common stuff. I've learned a lot just from joining this forum and that link will help me even more. I'm trying to do everything my self, well pretty much everything.

That's what I'm afraid of and I'm not keeping my car, well my mind is set to sell it and get a newer one. For now. LoL I keep changing my mind.

dang for $800 that looks in fairly good shape and sounds like it is mechanically fine. I was all excited when I opened the thread hoping to see a mach or cobra that you had upgraded to though. haha.

Oh my god I was thinking the same thing. Then when I say the new stang, I thought he either traded his in or just got another one. I was like what the ****, why would he get a V6 and older style, but then saw it said his dad's.

Haha..give it about a year for that thread to happen

And biker, I don't have a shop where I work, I'm a mobile business so I go to customers' houses and what not. What the prices are vary highly from detailer to detailer, and different areas. All depends on what they consider 'detailing' and what type of products they use and how much effort they put in.

He's going to keep it as his DD, probably run it till it dies since he thinks it's perfectly normal to keep a car for 30 years. Interior is in great condition, gauge housing just needs to be polished up, radio needs to be fixed (aftermarket sony crap HU that probably isn't hooked up right), power seat needs work (it only goes back and forth, and it sits extremely high) and A/C ducts need to be put back in place..other than that it's better than some 99-04s I've seen. I'll take photos of it today.
