epic snowboard day.
thought i'd share my excitement. did some incredible backcountry riding today. 2-5 feet of powder, 40 degree weather and sun.
here's a pic I took from the bottom. Although it doesn't do the ridge we dropped from any justice. we dropped from the midddle rightish ridge in the picture. it was probably a 15 story 80 degree drop. insane. then it mellowed out a bit. but i've never dropped from anything that intense. super fun day.

nice man, i wish we could get some powder. i was snowboarding today and it snowed for about an hour and we got like 1 inch other then that it was all ice. lol
i all so find burton boards to be **** i have had two and i hated them both after using my bro's ride snowboard.
burton snowboards are very heavy and are made very poor imo, i broke one in 2 trips.
i bought a ride DH and after using that board i think i might be buying ride for life.lol

We'll see...I'm hoping to go up this next weekend (31st) so we'll see 1) if I actually go and 2) if I go, what board I rent and see if I like it. Then if all is good, I'll go into buy mode.....We shall see

most people rent out burton boards so if you go, you will get a really junk burton board and it wont be any thing close to a board you would buy.
if you go buy a burton board it will have a lot more pop then the rental board will have and it will have better edges and bindings.
so dont compare the boards becouse the rental boards are not that good.

and it's not that burton equipment is terrible. **** I own a burton ak jacket, full gore-tex 550 goose down. it's light but warm. thing is sick. but burton as a company just blows. plus their lowerend **** really is lower end.

Any boards you recommend? I've been board searching today and might again tomorrow some...would definitely like your input. I'm hoping to be one of the first 30 people that win the 93.3 tickets to Breckenridge next Saturday...

Down the hill, I'd like to get more familiar with the balance aspect before I go do the park stuff. Anyway, I'm 6'5'' at 257lbs and I wear a 14 boot (very hard to find)

go with ride! I like their equipment personally. Burton is a good company and all and i have some of their gear, but it's kinda like when you go to high school and see everybody wearing say...Von Dutch (prob not even famous anymore...damn i'm getting old)....it wasn't that it was the BEST looking clothes...but all the popular kids had it so everybody else wanted it. It's just a big name and everybody feels like if the name is big...that means it's the ****! Wrong......
P.S. I've never worn Von Douche in my life.
i like that mtn badfish....where's that at?

A basin is a ski area (not resort). we rode their highest lift up, and did about a 20 miunte hike to get to that spot
a basin is west of i-25 along i-70 near dillon.

i would go with the ride fleetwood in a 165cm, then just find the boots that fit right and the binding that fit the board and boots.

That's a pretty expensive board for a beginner. honestly man, when learning, the board isn't going to make much of a difference. a better board will probably facilitate your learning better, but not so dramatically that you would notice any difference. just buy the right size according to your height and weight (which is what by the way?) and don't buy burton.
no offense 3.8, but I'm not so sure a 165 wide is such a good suggestion. a 165 is more for a 200lb 6'1" dude. that is a big ****** board, and it'll just make it harder to maneuver while learning.

King said he was 6'5'' 257lbs... looks like 3.8's suggestion actually isnt big enough...if the boards do need to be bigger for bigger people. (I have no idea...I ******* hate snow)

if he was not a beginner i think he would be on a 172 but a 172 would be to big for him to start out on imo.
