Thats bad as hell. They had one on Barrett-Jackson last week with John Force and Gas Rhonda...white, just like those. There were 50 made, and they were bought up before production. It sold for I think 250,000.

What's so special about them? They're pretty sick, but I'm not a fan of the 2005 on up models of Mustangs.
What's the Off and On switch for?

they a factory stock class race car for nmra IIRC. That's the emergency power shut off.. all cars that pull certain times (don't recall the ET that puts that rule into effect) have to have one.

Why would the switch be in the back? How much do those go for? You can't buy one huh, like for just a drive around car?

Im not sure, but John Force said he ran a 10 his first try, and could shave some time off if he was familiar with it.

The switch is in the back, because they have to be somewhere. They put them there so they are all in the same spot, and if need be, the safety crews know where to go in the event of a mishap. As for price, go back and read post #6 again. They were sold before they were even produced.

My bad, I miss read that sorry. Why put the switch in the back? Shouldn't it be like in the car some where or something not so far from the Engine area?

It's a second battery off. So if the car wrecks then emergency crews can run up to the car, hit the switch and prevent any more fuel from being fed to the motor/fire that will likely occur. This occurs by killing the battery thus shutting down the fuel pump and other electronics. And it's on the back of the car, since it's away from the hot engine, that is trying to ignite the fuel, and it's a standard location for all cars. Not to mention not many drag racing accidents happen where a car gets hit in the rear, most are front/side collisions.

They are stripped down GT500's if I recall. No interior or thrills what so ever(more bare than the Cobra R's). Come with a set of rims/tires set for drag racing. It's essentially a race car sold by ford.

Heres from the NHRA rulebook...

8.3 MASTER CUTOFF
Mandatory on any car with a battery running 9.99 (*6.39) or quicker, or any car exceeding 135 miles per hour (217.2 km/h) or on any car where the battery is relocated into the trunk area. See General Regulations 8.4.

*EDIT* MustangV6- thats a great explanation.

I don't remember the exact number but arn't they rated at like 600HP. Thats tons of room for improvement with thier engine.

the Cobra Jet gets an upgraded 5.4-liter V8 with a cold air intake, A/C delete, 9-inch rear end, a six speed manual or three speed auto with custom shifter, a roll hoop, gauges, a specialized suspension and huge drag slicks, but it also gets a VIN starting with the car's name. This first car off the line is VIN number FR500CJ001. Since it's not a road legal car to begin with, it doesn't have to maintain the traditional VIN coding, so it can be whatever it wants to be. These shots apparently come from a largely unpublicized Job 1 celebration which took place December 18th as the first Cobra Jet came off the end of the line.

The FR500CJ will be a factory-built race car with a 400 horsepower 5.4L DOHC supercharged engine with a 6-speed manual transmission that is standard, an optional automatic will also be available. The car itself will be lightweight at 3,300 lbs and will be NHRA legal to 10.00 second ET's along with the interior being NHRA Stock Eliminator legal interior. It will come with a unique trim and appearance package, drag race wheel/tire combination and a Cobra Jet graphics package. Ford says there will be an initial 50 unit production run with the MSRP being $69,900.

Some stuff I googled on it. 400hp seems low/wrong though. I mean the Gt500 uses the same motor yet has 100hp more? I wonder why they would down the power on the CJ.

Oh, I was thinking it was advertised really low, 400hp seems unrealisticly low. I thought 600hp would be low for that car. Someone will get it on a Dyno soon enough, and then pump over 1000hp out of it.
