I use several clay bars, but a cheap one is the clay magic kit, it's around $10 at autozone and comes with lubricant. Can't go wrong with that.

If you want to go to a good place for car detail supplies, go to glimmerglassdetail.com. There stuff is a little pricey but the best stuff you could ask for.

The best stuff is on the net not in stores like autozone etc.., but it depends on what your looking for. I use Poorboys clay and it rocks and removes much more contaminants then my mother clay kit I also have for the g/f's car.

This stuff is not much money and really good clay. I love poorboys products they are not alot of money and work awesome!

You wash the car and once its washed you can either use detail spray like a quick detailer or just use soapy water as a lubricant and spray the paint with the soapy water mix and rub the clay back and forth over the whole panel. It does not take much force at all to do this. You will feel the difference right away and know when you can move on to a different panel on the car. Also once the clay gets dirty from contanoments from the paint you simpley kneed the clay into a ball then form back into a flat oval shape and move on. Its very simple. After that just wash the car again to get the soapy water off and you can polish or go straight to a wax or sealant depending on how hardcore you wanna get.

BMWs brake pads **** me off. lol. I have to spend like 10 minutes on each wheel to get it all off. Sometimes it's so bad that it's become pitted into the ******* wheel.
