Looks pretty good for your first HDR attempt. Black cars look the best in HDR imo.

That was my 3nd attempt, the first attempt blew so bad i chucked it, i diddnt keep the camera steady enough

This one is the 2nd attempt, i did better. but the camera still slightly shook.

this one is the 4th attempt. it is a bit more toned down than the first 2

I would highly suggest getting a tripod. It makes a world of difference. Get yourself a tripod and then try taking some night shots.

Good stuff..Try getting some shots as the sun is going down. It's amazing some of the colors you can get in the sky with HDR shots.

You can take HDR's with out a tri pod, you just have to have a very steady hand and set your camera up to automatically adjust the exposure values to different increments so you just press the fire button several times very fast.

pics look good though.

With 7 exposures you get a nice range. I'll alos have to look into the automatic adjustments as well since some stuff you just can't wait for.

What camera are you using? My wife is looking to get a real nice one, and would like to surprise her with one.

Haha, if you get her a nice camera make sure she USES it like it should be. It's a trend lately for middle aged women to get DSLR cameras only to use them for point-and shoot type crap, it kind of irritates me, since I don't have a nice camera.

i got a Nikon D40... i love it,... even the point and shoot gets great pics.

but if yer wife is not into the fuss of photography and wants something gadgety that can snap quick pics i would reccomend against an SLR camera..

As for automatic settings for the HDR shooting, doesent look like the Nikdon D40 is programmable in that way. However if i turn off the review pic, shorten the automatic timer to 2 seconds, i can get all the pics neeeded in just around 1 minute.

You really don't need 7 exposures. I usually shoot with 3 exposures, sometimes 5. Just remember the more exposures you take the more it is going to limit the effect of the photo. The more pictures you take the more they are going to blend together and create a normal looking photo. HDR is meant to showcase the dynamic range of colors and lighting. So by taking one photo that is reasonably underexposed and one that is reasonably overexposed + one that is more or less properly exposed you usually can capture the really bright things in the scene as well as the really dark areas in the scene giving it that "WOW" factor. If you compile a bunch of different exposures you really are just balancing the light and dark out and you will just end up with a normally looking photo, or an HDR that really doesn't "Pop" like others do. Just my opinion on it.

I took these ones with 3 photos, free hand:

This one with 5, using a tri-pod:

Obviously how your post edit the photos can have a huge effect on how they turn out.

Ill keep that in mind, so far my experience with Photomatrix the more photos you take the more realistic it can look, however you can make it look computer generated with 3 just as well as 11.

my goal isnt to go too crazy, im sure you know what i mean, that HDR stuff can get so wierd looking it gives you a headache.

this one was done with 11 exposures, from -5.0 to 5.0, this is my buddys Ramcharger, i took these over the weekend while we were camping.

I have REALLY gotta get Photoshop or at least register Photomatrix to get rid of the watermarks...
