500 BHP 1962 VW Bus
That’s not a typing error. A company in Switzerland has decided to give the classic Volkswagen bus a 3.6L surprise.A 1962 split screen bus donated its bodyshell, which was lengthened and widened before being attached to the floorpan of a dead T3 pickup.
When it came to choosing a powerplant, Carrosserie Bernhard decided to keep things aircooled and opted for the twin turbo powerplant from a damaged Porsche 993. A standard engine would be enough for most people, but not these guys. The unit has been tweaked to produce 500 bhp, which is transmitted to those 18 inch BBS split rims via a Porsche 996 GT3 six speed ‘box.
nside, the uber-van you’ll find Porsche 993 dials, Recaro racing seats, and a detachable Sparco steering wheel turning the 993 power steering rack.
The video and photo gallery are definitely worth viewing.
