Default Detailed a guys GTP

I detailed a guys car i work out with. i didnt have the camera to take before pictures but i got the final result. The GTP had tar all over the place behind the wheels on the paint, full of dog hair, and a shitload of bugs on the front bumper. also the paint was VERY dull. I used several coats of meguires wax. i cleaned the engine too. was covered with dirt and just did it real quick

Easy money.

At least that's why I used to do it. Some people are willing to pay good money to have their rides detailed. I prefer to detail my own, but that's just me.

paid me 80 cash as soon as he dropped the car off, took like three hours. then i got bored an put some more coats of wax on to make it look even better cuz hte better it looks, the more ppl he tells, the more money i make. most of you are gunna say 80 is too cheap. im 17. id rather spend 3 hours doing whatever and make 80 bucks then sit around and look at these forums all day long

Ain't a damn thing wrong with that!

I'd bump up the price a little though...

The car looks great, nice job. I agree with Dsdaddy, you should bump up the price a little, maybe even to just a hundred once the word gets out how good you are. I have a buddy in San Antonio that owns his own mobile car wash and detail business. He charges 150-300, depending on the level of detailing and makes a killing. He'll have up to 5 cars a day...750-1500 a day, 4500-9000 a week, no other employees, and his office is a 2006 Ford F350 and fifth wheel trailer rig. Hehe, San Antonio is a dusty city.

I am a detailer for a local car dealership, and let me tell you, the money is in the side work! The side jobs usually allow you to pocket alot more, and people are willing to pay good money to have their rides detailed to someone who knows their stuff. I made $350.00 detailing a 62 Superformance Shelby Cobra. Thing was absolutely clean as a whistle, I didn't even have to wax it. He just wanted me to use his spray wax and wipe it down. Spent 3.5 hours on it and struggled to spend that long. There's money in detailing with the right clientel.

This winter I'm purchasing my porter cable with Pinnacle NXT stuff and maybe a high end caranuba wax. Practice on my car, mom and pops car, and then try and start a side job.

yea well when u got moms with retard cars like minivans and u only need to wash the car then put on like one coat of wax with an oribital, 80 is just fine. but yea i can finish way quicker than what i did but it took forever cuz the guy had a ton of dog hair in the car. i was probably gunna do 100 from now on anyways. i clean wheel wells, rims, tires, wash car, rain-x, streakfree windowcleaner, armor all, carpet cleaner, vacuum, cleaner wax, polish, and carnuba. clean engine bay also. i took out a shitload of scratches ontop of the clearcoat with lacquer thinner. the guy i charged 80 was a teacher/trainer/author so i figured he knos alot of ppl and he alreayd told me he is spreadin the word pretty fast. lol. well see. i already got 3 more minivans lined up which are sooo easy to do

yea im gunna learn how to buff on parents cars then do a side job. officemax will print 1000 business cards for $35. pretty good deal. im gunna make a website prolly too and throw around flyers. one car will pay for all that so the money is made back right away.

Tire gels are always good. I use Armor All's tire gel. Stays on for about 3 weeks even with rain storms.

And it is nice having a side job with detailing for cost of supplies and equipment is very very low. It's basically a pure income job after awhile.

I pay for details. I have my wife's Suburban detailed this summer and the guy did a great job. Still looks good now.

I am having my Mustang detailed by a pro either this week or next week. Then it is going in storage and I will bring it back to the guy in the spring for wax.

Good luck with it. I started my business over the summer. Takes a lot longer then 3 hours to do a full detail though, for me at least.

Yeah, good luck, sounds like you have a simple business plan, makes things alot easier that way, just keep it simple at first and find out if you really like detailing other ppls rides and go from there. There's alot of money to be made and most ppl love a clean shiney ride.

I worked @ Mister Carwash for the past two summers. And let me tell you they did a real business detailing cars especially on the weekends. They did atleast 15-20 on any given day not only did they pay to have it detailed but they also tipped the guy(s) who detailed. you could make a killing just off the tips.

its called no touch tire shine or something. its a spray out foam. the thing is to spray it on the tire, after a about a minute of it soaking into the tire, take a paper towel, fold it up into a square wide enough to rub the side of yr tire. spray a small amount of tire shine onto the paper towel, then rub the tire all the way around and take off all the extra foam that will cause streaks. thats how u get a no streak tire shine
