Well it only took two and a half years to get it back but I finally got my buck. And yes I know it isnt the largest buck in the world. But, for Georgia its a decent size one (as well as my first buck I have killed)

that's a nice trophy. Out here on the left coast it seems like all you see is skull caps and bones but no real caped trophies.

I've got gobs of antlers out in the garage but i usually use them to make knife handles for the knives I make. What cartridge do you like to use out there? I'm a 7mm Rem Mag guy most times but I'll stoop to a .444 marlin or a .308win if I'm not going where long ranges are common.

Note... .444's turn 200lb deer into 200lb sack-o-jello. Shoot em in the neck if you're gunna use such a thing. I learned the hard way.

I hunt with a Savage 30-06 and use Winchester Supreme ballistic tips (140 Grain). I love these bullets, I killed a doe at the same time as this buck (about 15 yards from each other), and my scope was off, I shot this buck in the hind quarter and it dropped on the spot, didn't run at all.

Geeeez that size deer would be a monster here on the west coast of Florida!!! Not much of a hunter, but know enought to know that that is a good size deer. It's to bad that where I live we are building so much that the deer are getting run out of their habitat and getting squashed by cars left and right.

I mounted Bambi as well, but that was after leaving the strip joint with her. Haaaaaa

I've had hit and miss results with the Supreme stuff. Some of my guns like it others just won't make a group under 4" with it. I started reloading about a decade ago so now I just roll my own. I normally use something like Norma 140gr HPBT that I put a moly coating on. From my primary hunting rifle in 7mm those turn in <1moa but you shouldn't use them up close... kinda the same as my .444 on damage.

Out here a BIG FUGGIN DEER is 200lbs and I've killed a bunch of them. Mostly though the ones we'll find (blacktail) are 125-175lbs on the hoof.

I know what you mean though wade... out here we have a pretty significant mountain lion over population. They were banned as a game species a couple decades ago and ever since then their numbers have swelled beyond the capacity of their dwindling habitat to support them. Of course the local sherrif gets the kill anytime one wanders too close to a neighborhood instead of issuing a limited number of tags in particular zones to hunters and fur trappers. Gawd I hate california's govt.
