Default HELP!: No turn signal, emergency flasher, brake and driving lights.

Hey Randy (or anyone), would you happen to know what would cause the following systems to fail: Turn signals, brake lights (only center brake light works) emergency flasher, rear running lights, and dash lights to all fail? It seems to be degenerative, i.e. each failed one after another within a (2) day period of time. I've checked all the wires, bulbs, fuses and even replaced the flasher relay and the issue persists. What other relay or part would be related to this type of failure? Any help in the right direction would be much appreciated, thanks!

sounds like a GEM problem, GEM stands for General Electric Mpdule and it's $$$ at $290.00 + s&h....you might want to take it to the dealer and make sure...

Where is that located and look like? And what would the part # on that be? I would like to avoid having to pay hefty diagnostic fees on top of whatever repair would be necessary.

That seems to be the Part ID, is there a Motorcraft Part# as well? Also what all plugs into this thing, I'm having a hard time discerning where this actually is based on my Haynes Manual and wiring diagrams.

Think BFE... it's a bitch to reach everything behind the driver side. Try pulling out the instument cluster and you'll have a buttload more room behind there to work and a LOT more light.

How much would an electrical diagnostic cost at a typical Ford dealership?

Ok, so this is weird, my brake lights came back. But if I try using my turn signal, it kills the brakes lights again, but if I release it, they go back on. Hah, this is crazy, its as if some wires got crossed.

Sounds like a bad ground. I recently had issues just like this while trying to wire a trailer and that was the problem.

So, interestingly, I did find a loose ground cable and corrected that. I then went through all the fuses again and found one 15A was actually blown, replaced it and now I have my emergency flasher, turn signals and brake lights back. But I can't find anything else that would cause the fog lights, instrument cluster backlighting, and rear driving lights to continue to not work. Almost there.....

..... nevermind, spoke too soon! Now the 15A keeps blowing whenever I turn on the emergency flashes or turn signal. Something is definitely not right, back to the drawing board!

hmmm, well then it might be either a bad headlight switch or the multi-function switch

Part #'s and prices? I'm gonna yank those tonight and see if I can get any readings off of them with multimeter that can help pinpoint the failure better and start replacing parts, I can't afford to have this car sitting any longer.

So i replaced the switches now and checked all the fuses and relays, all are good. All grounds are secured, all cables are secured. The GEM and everything else looks like new, can't see any blow out points. I'm really at a loss at this point. Looks like I'm going to have to suck it up and bring it in for service. =(
