Default Fort Bragg Stang!!

Hello all.... Just joined. Bought a 03 White GT 4.6 today!!! Just thought I would join a fourm and learn as much as I can about my car!! I'm in the Army. Been in for 12 Years. (Army) I have the following to play with:

05 ZX10R
03 Mustang GT
02 Dodge Dakota
99 Mitsh Gallant (Want to sell)

I drag the 10R and I want to start with the Stang, but I wanna make some mods before heading out!!! If any of you can give me some pointers. What does the GT 300 mean on the side of my car????? Just wondering. It has the Mach Stero system, and It has the optional 150 speedo. It only has 11,000 miles on it!! It has the SOHC 4.6 V8. I was thinking of beginning with the following:

Exhaust Cat Back
Cold Air Intake

After I get some pointers from you all I will move up to the big stuff!!! Thanks,

Glad to be part of the Forum!!!!

Bragg

Thanks all for the great responses!!!! I put 4:10 gears on my Dakota!!! Yes the launch is great!!!! But the Top End sucks ***!!!! What is the stock gearing in the GT? 3:55 right??? I might drop it down to 3:73 and add a 2 stage 100 shot of NOS. WOT and activation Button!!! Let me know! I will add the CAI, and the Exhaust before I add the NOS though!!! Then I'll hit up the motor!!!!! I wanna hit low 12's!!!!

Dont fear the gear. 4.10's would be great in your car. I had them in my old gt and will put them in my mach when i get the funds to do so. CAI, O/R midpipe, exhaust, pulleys and a tune will do wonders for the car. BTW welcome.

Default Ran the 10R on Sunday

Hello all.... Went to the track on Sunday, didn't run the Stang but I ran the ZX10R, I hit 10.72@136.7. I wanna hit 9.67 by summer. Is there anyone here from Fayetteville, NC??? I don't want to run the Stang until I get some mods to it. By the way, I have the Automatic. Where do I find what gears I have or does anyone know what gears came with the car??? I'm gonna get a CAI, and an exhaust, any suggestions on them??? Thanks.

Default What type of exhaust???? CAI????

I'm confused. Maybe I am used to my Dakota What type of exhaust is good for the Stang???? Do you have to go with a full exhaust or can you do catback??? With the CAI I've read that just putting in a K+N filter is just about as good as a Full CAI!!!!! Can you please help me out here???? What size is my engine??? Is it the 298 CI ???? Damn thought I was getting the 302!!!!!!! :loser: Oh Well, there is always something!!!!! Is the 4 Valve 4.6 Better then the 2 Valve 4.6??? WOW, i'm so confused!!!!! HELP HELP HELP!!!!!!!!! :bash:

It depends on the type of sound you want, I have an O/R MAC Prochamber with Flowmaster 40s and I love the sound... If you want something that is just really loud go with any kind of H or X pipe and an SLP catback... To get a good idea of how different combinations sound take a look at the exhaust videos forum or use a search engine... theres tons of clips out there. Good luck and welcome.

281 C.I. - 4.6
302 C.I. - 5.0
4 Valve is better than 2 Valve
H pipe - Lower "muscle car" sound
X pipe - Higher "exotic car" sound
Mufflers would have to be opinion based
I have an off road H pipe going into Flowmaster 40's and dumped before the axle, I absoloutly love it, compliments all the time, set of car alarms frequently (resonance).
Yes a K&N will yield very similar gains to a cold air.
Hope this help
Cheers

hey there bragg stang and everybody. i 'm not new i just changed my user name to something a little more unique. anyway i'm from bragg also but in iraq right now. i've been there for going on seven years which coincidentely (is that how you spell it) is how long i've been in. i sold my 99' gt automatic when i had my second kid a few months prior to deploying. i've also had a 98' gt 5-speed. though i liked the 98' better because it was a 5-speed the 99' was a lot faster and i modded the 98' a lot more also. i ran my 99' at fayetteville bone stock and pulled a 13.8 at like a 100 mph. mind you it was sunny to heat the track but the air was cold so it was perfect conditions. also when i ran like anyone would i believe i shifted the gears myself because the computer shifts to soon. it's tricky though from 1st to 2nd because there is a delay. the only mods i could afford was a k&n high flow intake and and SLP cat back exhaust. i had bought an off road x-pipe to go along with the exhaust but as much as i loved it it was so freaking loud i couldn't take any chances getting a ticket so i sold it. i personally am in love with the SLP loudmouth exhaust system. i have had flowmaster exhaust system on my other stang and loved it to don't get me wrong but i love the old car sound of the slp. the best i ever ran in my car with those mods and perfect weather was a 13.74 @ 101 mph. on the average day thoughwhen it was warm it would run between 13.9 and 14.1. just if your curious about top speed mine wasn't governed like my 98' was at 120 mph and i got my 99' up to 150 mph at home in ohio before my country road turned really country on me and had to slow down. i'll tell you a good mod before you race it is a shift kit or get a manual valve body and a ratchet shifter. that was next on my list but kids are a little more important. i would go with the manual valve body and a ratchet shifter. you can still leave it in drive for daily driving but when you race you shift the gears yourself and it'll snap right into whatever gear you put it in and with the ratchet shifter you don't have to worry about going past a gear or anything just slap it foward to the nest gear and it will stop the slap it again. anyway sorry so long bragg stang and everybody but i've been away for a while and really like to talk mustangs so please accept my apologies for the long thread. and when i get back hopefully i can get me another stang.
