Default New here!

Hey guys I'm new here, was referred here by SVTP. I'm looking to start modding my car a little bit, I don't know exactly where to begin though. It's a stock 02 GT 5-spd. My mechanic has BBK L/T's and catted H for me, so at the moment I'm looking to get a subtle cat back so I don't wake everyone up in the morning. Anyways, onto the goods right?

Well it has a MAC air filter, but in my mind that doesn't count for anything because it's missing three of the four bolts that a supposed to be holding it in place. A very good excuse to get a new one though. As for the suspension I couldn't tell you, I bought the car used over the summer.

It's my DD so nothing to outlandish, just full bolt ons basically, a nice drop and nice set of wheels. Those new heads and a nice cam are looking like they might make the cut too.

Thanks for the warm and fuzzy welcome everyone. I'm looking to get the car to run mid 12's all motor. I'm getting the L/T's and H pipe next week, haven't found a cat back yet, most likely going with MAC. Opinions on these brands? Than I plan on getting 4.10's, CAI and accufab t/b and plenum, along with an SCT Tune. I'm also looking into an aluminum drive shaft and an MSD 2 Step. You think I could hit 12's on a nice tire?

Well Idk guys, I've already got one money pit thats running mid 12's. I'm not so sure I need another. I think its going to stay stock for a few more years. Still have to replace that intake though.

you will need some suspension done to even get close to a 12.9 maybe squeak out a 12.8 with all of those mods. you wont need a 2 step because with the right tire/suspension set up you will be able to launch off redline with no spin. to launch off red line you will need a solid rear end w/ 31 splines, new diff, welded tubes and torque boxes to handle the stress of the shock load.

there is a lot involved to get a 250-260 hp car that tips the scales at 3300-3400 pounds into the 12's.

my peice has 400hp and i cant break a 12.5 at 115 my best run in germany at 1400 ft is 12.6 at 108 with a 1.8 60ft. my car isnt set up just right yet...still had the sway bar in havent installed the strange 10 ways in the rear, im working on getting UPR coil over up front, big and littles, and a nice sticky 26" ET street. i also need to get my sub frame connectors installed! i know im a slacker.

the car in the video has cams now and that was the video after they were installed. i think he was hitting 12.9's before they went in.

Its a 2003 Lightning. 6lb lower pulley, FIPK, Borla catback, Tune, Hotchkis TVS. I've yet to dyno it but based on my 1/4 times I think its making about 410-420rwhp and 500+rwtq. With all the money I want to put in the mustang, I could upgrade my entire fuel system and bolt a whipple on and go 11.50's on slicks. Youtube video of my best run below picture.

Nice truck I love L's and wanted one instead of the mustang, but I could not afford it. To run 12's you do not need heads, cams, intake manifolds etc.. Its been done with cars with bolt on's like you listed a sticky tire and some minor suspension work and a good driver.

Local guy here went 12.8's@104 in a heavy vert with 4.10s,full exhaust like you listed, pulleys, tune, uppers and lower control arms, and some adjustable shocks and struts, slicks and some good driving. Its been done many times in GT's. A coupe would be slightly faster. OH and he was on lowering springs also which did not help.

I'm going to see how money is treating me come next year, I just started a new job and I should be getting a raise soon, and than I have a pretty nice refund coming to me next year. The only thing I'm heart set on getting for the stang is a set of 18x10/18x9 chrome FR500's, and some cobra body parts to make it look hawt. No point in getting those things right before winter though, I guess we'll see what happens.

On a side not, those new Trick Flow heads should work on my Lightning right? I'm under the impression the Mustang GT heads/lightning heads are the same.
