Would anybody be interested in buying my engine or whole car? I just don't have the time to finish it, I'm working full time and going to school and getting married this summer. I'll include my fuel system and misc parts with the engine for anybody interested. I'm not sure what to value it at but I've got around 7k into it if I can remember correctly.

What kind of price would a set run if you were willing to let them go? Also you're using them for the reverse headers for turbo right? No worries about warping them or anything?

these are thick enough they can take some abuse and not bend or warp. let me see if i can find them and i just might sell the extras off since ftp isn't gonna make headers anymore.

my son and i are close to starting our project, looking for a manifold for a 5.4 2v into his 2003, any used ones out there. Or used adapters, we really want to use the HPS but are willing to save some cash for other items and upgrade later.

We have a 5.4 with some where in the 130k range , haven't taken it apart yet but am planning to refreash it. Hoping to get away with bearings, seals, rings... any other common ford 5.4 must do's even if they appear ok. I am thinking oil pump and timing chain set, but am not experianced with ford to know if they are must does or bullet proof and i should not waste money on them.

We have a great car to start with , hope the exsisting mods will support more motor. I do think we will need to do something in cam / head upgrade to get some top end, but we are thinking that will come after its on the road and completed this season of drag racing.

any used parts send email to hareracer@yahoo.com

thank you
Joe

Been gone from here for awhile, saw a post on the Corral that I thought would be interesting to a lot of ppl here since this board seems to be very pro 5.4 swap.

436/472 to the WHEELS out of a built TFS headed 5.4L 2V. Should have dyno sheets up soon.

Would you sell the intake separate?
And what kind of intake is it HPS?

Sorry guys its been quite a while since ive been on even though I have only asked a couple questions. The last part I need for my build is an intake. Anyone have the hps looking to sell? Ive been gathering parts for the motor. I have manley H-beam rods, diamond forged steel pistons, Hitech stage 2 cams, upgraded valve springs, my block is cleaned up and once i get my tools down here I am ready to start putting it all together.

It's a boss 260 intake for C heads.

so i am in need of a timing cover for my 5.4.

the problem i am having is that the vehicle is a 97 mustang with coil packs and i would like to retain the coil packs instead of going to COPs.

the vehicle i got the engine from is a 2001 ford expedition with COPs. so the question i have is where/or from what vehicle do i get the appropriate timing cover off of that will have mounting holes for coil packs as well as have all the other equipment on it?

the brackets will mount up on any timing cover. just the pass side might be leaning over alittle.

The drivers side will bolt up, you'll have to bend the passenger side up alittle. I think it mounts on the studs on the timing cover bolts anyway, but you wanna make sure your timing cover has the mount for the power steering pump, on the lower drivers side.

I read through alot of this thread (whew) and had most of my questions answered. i tried a search but haven't been able to find much on whether anyone has run an Edelbrock with adapter plates on the 5.4? I was thinking iit might be a way to shift the power curve over a little bit to the higher rpm's. My "plan" is:

junkyard shortblock - under 500$
MHS Stage 2.5 5.4 specific cams
Tear down and build shortblock
forged rods - MMR 419$ (best price I found, anyone know a better place?)
Probe Flot Top pistons - compression to approx. 11:1 if I did the calcs right
Adapter plates and Eddy intake
MMR adapter to run stock style T/B and keep smog stuff

The idea is for it to be a decent but not expensive build. I figure I can some ok cash selling my shortblock and comp cams seperate to offset a decent amount of the costs. I just want a fun car on the street with more torque. I love my 4.6 but just want more grunt from it. I figured the 5.4 would get the torque and the MHS cams and Eddy intake would help push the power curve to the right a little so it doesn't fall on it's face at 5,000 rpm quite as bad.

Does that make sense? Long term I will prob add FI or TFS heads, but for now stay N/A but maybe add a 125 shot of nitrous since the rods and pistons would be forged.

I've thought about using an Edelbrock intake as well for when I do mine. But rather than use adapter plates, my thought was to cut it down the middle of the plenum, mount both halves to either cylinder head, and then use aluminum sheet of the right thickness to weld it all back together. This way, you eliminate the awkward flow of adapter plates and boost plenum volume (which is too small for fuel injection). Then, for the TB mount, you just need an adapter plate to go from the new wider 4150 pattern to a standard 4150 (or the stock style pattern).

ok guys after lots of searching I found them on page 127. Now on assembly are the specs for the 4.6 like torque and bearing oil clearances are they the same? And does anyone have a way to contact Bob from HPS? Ive called and left a voicemail on the number listed on the website and sent an email but havent heard anything from him.

Update on my 5.4 DOHC b-head build.

Shortblock is together
Heads have been reassembled and on shortblock

I'm putting the chains on and noticed that instead of just 1 color link on each side on the primary chains there are 2 colored links consecutive on 1 end and just 1 colored link on the other side. Which one goes on the crank/primary gear?

Hopefully I'll have this together in a few weeks.

the single should be down on the crank and the 2 consecutive links up on the camshaft

Thanks Sandman. I switched it.

Well started to put the timing cover on, headers on and oil cooler. But I ran into a snag. There is a ear on the block that my autometer oil pressure gauge hits. Anybody ever run across this issue? I can extend the sending unit with a fitting but I'm wondering it might hit my PS pump. I guess I might have to do a remote sending unit.
