ok im thinking of going with what 12fast4u said and getting this.

http://www.metcomotorsports.com/prod...prod=ICP9903-1

can i get away with just buying that? i dont want to go crazy with it cause when i go built im gonna get a cog set-up.

since the harley set-up had 6 pounds of boost and i would like to make 10 to 12 pounds of boost does that mean i should go with the +4 or +6?

yes that is all you will need ,if you call and speak to aaron tell him the exact boost level you are looking to make and he will tell you which pulley will work the best for you and your needs then he will also tell you the exact size belt you will need for that size pulley, you really dont need the auxilary idler or the other idler pulley , but in my opinion the auxilary idler with 100mm pulley is well worth the money keeps the belt nice and snug on the snout which eliminates a bunch of belt slippage ,but if you just want the basics and a little more boost that is the correct setup you are looking at

wow, great lengths have been accomplished and a few new faces. great to read all the updates. Colin, glad to see you still have yours and havent sold it.. yet. damned shame when you do. got a couple of ideas for you guys and some questions. i know i havent been on in forever, work and school are kicking my ****. anywho.. tommy was talking about going with PA racing k member and having them drop the motor mounts 1/2 inch to help with clearnce; how bad will that affect the header clearence? love the idea of dropping the motor down with the lower mounts and some kmember spacers. i know colin mentioned that by doing so, it'll put the oil pan close to the member.. pro's and con's? heck if we have to pull the pan on one of these might as well pull the motor i would think. i know alot of people have been fighting with the whole SC setup, heres a thought (haven't thought too much though) what about using a super charger off a gt500? they're 5.4's. i know they are DOHC but couldnt we maybe get a lower plenum made for the 2V guys? also UDP kits, any sugestions?
hey tommy, on the LT's, are they just the LT's or do they make a X pipe for it as well?

joey, ftp can make the x-pipe as well. they were looking at 1k for LT's and 1200 with x-pipe...

he's working on my turbo headers as we speak, call them and ask about a full set...

dropping the k-member won't have an effect on the lt's. when ftp was dropping hunters k-member to install them it didn't pose to much of an issue.

Hey guys, just got home from the test drive of my 5.4L swap. Drove 30 miles so far. All seems well.
Back story on my setup. BUDGET BUILD FO SHO!!! heh.
Engine came out of 2000 E350 superduty. $75.
Bought the Pro Products adapters (crap) $150 on ebay (brand new)
Reconditioned my 2000 Mustang GT PI heads. $400
Upgraded to the 04' Cobra clutch/alum. flywheel (even though I have the 8bolt setup already on my Y2k stang, my clutch was in need of replacement). $75

Side note, I saved a bit of money buying the Ford Racing head changing kit. It has the head bolts, head gaskets, exhaust gaskets, AND dipstick tube for 110 bucks. Rather than paying 190 buying individually from the parts store.

I had no exhaust complications what so ever in my swap. I am using the stock manifolds and a bassani X-pipe with spin tech mufflers. It did require a small amount of effort to put the x-pipe in, but no more effort than on my 4.6L.

I did have to notch the inside of the hood to get the throttle cable to move when the pedal was depressed. I think that is because I retained the plenum spacer that I was using on my gt engine. I swapped the intake on and off with the plenum/tb/spacer and injectors intact.

I am using the stock computer so far, without idle problems. I am going to ride it on the current setup for a few hundred miles then take it for a dynotune. or dyno/processor flash. Whatever he can do for me... cheapest. hah.

Thanks for the info on your boards guys!!!
Enjoy

R3D advised me to "picsorban" so here goes....

okay so the k-member drop wont have much effect but how about your idea of having PA racing drop the motor mounts the half inch instead? would that cause them to hit anywhere, i know tolerances are close as is with these LT, I'm just not sure if a half inch will really make a difference.

Looks good and sounds like you're having a great time with it. notching the inside of the hood is pretty common for the swap unless dropping the k-member or things of that nature. i myself took a pretty good sized chunk out.
as far as the stock computer. i ran around on my stock comp for a number of months with no problems. every once and a while when coming to a stop sign or signal when i would clutch in it would die, but i didnt retain my original TB. but other than that i didnt have any problems. just take it easy, no WOT.

R3d or others,
Does anyone have a base tune that I could add to a Diablosport Tuner to get me going/on the road? Just for the break in period as i mentioned above.

One of my friends has one that he said I could use, so i should be able to at least get the break in period in before going to get the thing tuned...

Thanks guys

R3d whats going to be the price on the MHS manifold? I guess im not going to be able to use my TB/Plenum either?

If i could dump my HPS intake on someone and the cost for all the new pieces isn't outrageous i'll snag one.

Nice man. Sign me up. I could shell out some bones when the time comes, i think if i sold the HPS i would be close to that figure, so i could definately swing the difference, and get the better elbow down the line.

Hope this thing happens.

Got a question. Got my 5.4 down to the long block and noticed what SEEMS to be two extra sensors that the 4.6 does not have. One on the inside of the drivers side head and the other is dead center in the "lifter valley". Since the 4.6 harness doesnt have any place for them do these just need to be disregarded and left unused? One maybe be a ground but I cant really tell.

and also, does the hardline line for the water pump that runs under the intake mani have any clearance issues. the one on my 5.4 is in quite a different location than the 4.6 is. The 4.6 is lower and closer to the center of the engine, whereas the 5.4 is up more and near the passenger side head.

VEGAS:
I believe your refering to the knock sensors. There is no clearance issues with those. All you need to hook up is whats in your mustang wire harness. My 5.4L had the one in the valley as well. I took the sensor off, and put the bolt back in (just in case it could be utilized later down the road). The 4V guys actually have to grind that stub off to use the pre 99' blocks in the new edge cobras because of intake manifold clearance issues. Not our problem! hah.
The hard water line that is in the valley had no clearance issues either. I believe I used the mustang piece because the hose that attaches to the hard line ends up in the same place for my firewall connection to the heater core. Remember, the deck height is all thats different between these two engines. valley to pan is the same distance. Valley to valve cover is longer.

I've got about 275 miles on my 5.4L swapped GT and I love it so far. It amazes me as to how much torque I've got down low now. I remember waiting on my 3rd gear to pull with the 4.6L and its IMMEDIATE with the 5.4L. I have yet to hit WOT because of lean condition theorized without a tune. But this coming week my local tuner is going to flash my pcm to cure that. I guess its just a matter of changing the cubes in the processor. ?!?
Either way. I wanted to find out what you guys are running for injectors on N/A 5.4L. I think I want to upgrade the injectors to the cobra 24# AT LEAST. My issue is that I am setting up a twin turbo kit (very mild and basic) and dont wanna waste money on things that will be replaced twice unless its on the cheap. The turbo kit isnt going to be overnight, and is only gonna be a mild 6-8psi kit for sure until I upgrade the 5.4L bottom end a bit.
Thanks as always for your info~!

Whats the easiest way to do this? The hardline looks pretty permanently affixed behind the water pump there. Hows it held on.

Thanks for the help. The only real clearance issue I was worried about with the water hardline is it almost looks as if it would come close to the firewall and cause some problems. That was my main concern.

Whats a good (cheaper) site to get MM parts from? or better yet some used parts. I'm gonna start collecting parts for the tubular K-member swap. I was gonna get a set of struts and C/C plates and it was gonna be $50 shipping so I went ahead and ordered the K-member itself instead, for $50 shipped.
